What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Showtime cable channel, The L Word: Generation Q is a sequel to The L Word series which ran on the same channel, from 2004-2009. It stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Arienne Mandi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni, Rosanny Zayas, Sepideh Moafi, and Jordan Hull. Season two guests include Rosie O’Donnell, Donald Faison, Griffin Dunne, and Vanessa Williams. The current iteration continues to follow the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Moennig), Alice Pieszecki (Hailey), Dani Nùñez (Mandi), Micah Lee (Sheng), Sarah Finley (Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Zayas), Gigi Ghorbani (Moafi), and Angelica Porter-Kennard (Hull) as they experience love, heartbreak, setbacks, and success in Los Angeles.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The L Word: Generation Q averaged a 0.01 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 74,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (includes all DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season one, that’s down by 74% in the demo and down by 64% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Though other economic factors are involved, the higher-rated shows usually get renewed and the lower-rated ones get cancelled. Find out how The L Word: Generation Q stacks up against other Showtime TV shows.
The L Word: Generation Q has been renewed for a third season which will debut on November 20, 2022. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will Showtime cancel or renew The L Word: Generation Q for season three? Showtime series often draw low viewership but the traditional ratings for this show have been particularly low. Unless the streaming numbers are much better, I have doubts that it will be renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. What do you think? Are you glad that The L Word: Generation Q TV show has been renewed for a third season? How would you feel if Showtime had cancelled this TV series, instead?
They lost me with the casting of a transfemale who is not being identified as such on the show. I peeped her from her first episode. And then they paired her with a “gold-star lesbian” character who prides herself on never having been sexually with a man.
It’s not a good look.
Honestly not shocked at all they’ll be cancelled. Its sad, but We, as in lesbians, lost our community ages ago. We couldn’t keep our most sacred meeting places open so now we cant save our show. Really I wasn’t too happy it turned into the “All Letters Word” anyway, sorry just being honest. So grateful I’ve experienced what true family and community felt like once upon a time —before it was decimated because we’re so darn accepted now – HA!
Season 3 please. I love the show a lot
We need season 3!
Renew please
Hope the L Word Generation Q will be renewed.
Please renew LWord GenQ! I believe the show did the best they could with content in a compressed production schedule due to COVID. The new characters are just now maturing and hitting their stride. They are becoming more interesting with each episode. The show is very entertaining; hilarious as always with Alice (and others) and the enduring friendship of the OG characters (Bette, Alice, Shane & Tina) is heartwarming. They are a family! They’re always there for each other no matter what. The parenting of Angie by Bette and Tina is an important aspect of the show and it’s been… Read more »
Telly’s Take needs to update their prediction. This was made early in August…. Not sure that the show has met expectations…. IMO, this show had great potential but really wasted it all on being over dramatic with very little story and content. Relationships never lasted more than a couple of episodes – dialogue was no more than text messages put on the screen. Too many characters and not enough time to get attached to the characters. No one catches a break with something good happening for the entire season. These characters do not like themselves. How are we suppose to… Read more »
