BBC AMERICA ANNOUNCES PREMIERE DATE FOR NEW DRAMA SERIES “THE MUSKETEERS” AND SEASON TWO PICK UP
Announced today, BBC AMERICA will premiere new co-production, The Musketeers, on Sunday, June 22 and has picked up the second season of the drama series for 2015.
A fresh and contemporary take on the classic Alexandre Dumas characters, The Musketeers is set on the streets of seventeenth century Paris, where law and order is an idea more than a reality. In addition to being King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards, Athos, Aramis and Porthos stand resolutely for social justice, honor, valor, love – and for the thrill of it. The series created by Adrian Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval) is made by BBC Drama Production for BBC One, co-produced by BBC AMERICA and BBC Worldwide. The 10-part first season premieres Sunday, June 22, 9:00pm ET.
Luke Pasqualino (Skins, The Borgias) stars as D’Artagnan alongside Tom Burke (Great Expectations, The Hour) as Athos, Santiago Cabrera (Merlin, Heroes) as Aramis and Howard Charles (Royal Shakespeare Company) as Porthos. Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Hour, The Thick Of It), Maimie McCoy (Loving Miss Hatto), Tamla Kari (Cuckoo, The Inbetweeners Movie) and Hugo Speer (Bedlam) also star in the series.
Additionally, viewers can expect to see guest cast including JJ Feild (Captain America: The First Avenger), Vincent Regan (Snow White and the Huntsman), Ashley Walters (Inside Men), Amy Nuttall (Downton Abbey), Tara Fitzgerald (Waking the Dead), Annabelle Wallis (X-Men: First Class), Zoe Tapper (Mr Selfridge), Vinnie Jones (Snatch) and Sean Pertwee (Elementary).
Jessica Pope (Quirke, Burton and Taylor, State Within) is the BBC executive producer, Adrian Hodges is an executive producer and lead writer, and Colin Wratten (Inside Men, Waking the Dead) is producer.

What do you think? Do you plan on watching The Musketeers on BBC America?
I absolutely luv this show and cant wait for the second season…When will it start….
See, that one also screams “street team”!!! Can you tell why?
Thank Goodness this was renewed, I loved it and got my son hooked on it while visiting. We both await season two.
I love this show. The costumes are amazing. I love the way the leather looks and wears, so authentic to the time period. All the weapons and hard ware and the set, all wonderful to the series. . . And the story lines are so good. I look forward to season two.
Love this show. !! Hard to find intelligent writing , great acting with action. Hope it will be renewed for a third season!! Most of my favorite shows on Network TV end up cancelled that is what lead me to look for programming elsewhere. BBC is my refuge from Awful TV!!
This is a great show. Something different for a change. Glad it’s been renewed. I was sad when “Merlin” ended, but this fills that hole nicely!
Love it! One of the best series on t v
My family LOVES the Three Musketeers. BBC, you have done it again! Thank you so much for much needed family fun entertainment!
My husband and I love the show. Great acting and action scenes. Is there any way you can eliminate the commercials?
I apologize in advance of you are “real”, but this sounds so much like a street-teamer or a crew member trying to sound like the genuine article it’s really funny…
I am looking forward to watching more Musketeers. Love the stories, the great looking men and women, the sets. love love love
My husband and I absolutely LOVE this show and cannot wait for more episodes. The actors are awesome and compliment each other perfectly. Bravo BBC, great entertainment.
I just stated watching this am I an already addicted.
Please renew for season II.
Amazing how quickly street teamers pop up on this site… 😉
What on earth is a street teamer? I’ve never heard that term before.
And isn’t that what a street-teamer would say..? 😉 In case this is a real question, “street teams” are used as part of marketing. They used to be young people sent “into the streets” to place promotional items in stores etc… and now the concept has extended to having paid people pose as “disinterested viewers” sharing their love for whatever program. Ronald D. Moore loves his street teams and uses them to try and give the false impression his low-rated flops are really beloved. Street teamers create endless accounts on Imdb to boost the rating of a show, write endless… Read more »
Wouldnt miss this for any other programe its great looking forward to recieving the dvd in blue ray from bbc shop for when i want to see it again
Excellent show!! Looking forward to Season 2.
Don’t knock it till you’ve seen it.
Just can’t bring myself to watch another show on BBC America since they cancelled “Copper”….
I wish more networks had the courage to cancel shows that don’t work.
One of the reasons there’s so little good to watch these days is that networks keep renewing everything in sight.
i was going to criticize BBC America for doing the usual “we renewed an unaired show so you’ll think it must be great, but they’re really not in charge at all (how do you co-produce with yourself again?!)
