The Neighborhood is here to stay. CBS just announced they’ve renewed the TV show for a second season.
The sitcom centers on professional conflict negotiator Dave Johnson (Max Greenfield), who moves with his family to the Los Angeles area, after his wife, Gemma (Beth Behrs), land a job as a school principal. The Johnsons’ new next-door neighbor, Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer) is generally suspicious of outsiders and worries Dave will mess up the predominantly black community’s dynamics.
A Look at the Ratings:
It’s not a huge surprise that CBS has given a season two to The Neighborhood. The freshman comedy has been performing well in the ratings since its October 2018 debut.
So far, season one is averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.43 million viewers, making it CBS’ top-rated new comedy for the 2018-19 season and one of their top comedies overall.
CBS also renewed two other freshman shows – FBI and Magnum PI — for the 2019-20 season. “Each of these distinctive shows has made their mark in a variety of ways,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “Our goals this season were to introduce new series that audiences are passionate about, add more strength to a winning schedule and create more inclusive programming.” Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming added, “We’re thrilled by the creative direction and performance of these three shows as they continue to grow in popularity and resonate with the Network’s viewers.”
The network has not renewed Sunday’s God Friended Me for a second season yet but a renewal is expected. Renewals of Happy Together and Murphy Brown are seen as more of a longshot.
What do you think? Have you seen The Neighborhood? Will you watch season two?
I like the show can’t wait for second season
I love this show, can’t wait to see the second season!
I am so happy to see it is coming back. There is nothing on TV in the way of sitcoms. I think it is great! It reminds me of the Bunkers and Jefferson’s on All in the family. We need more shows like this instead of the stupid reality shows(really). I look forward to Monday nights with The Neighborhood and Man with a Plan.
My husband used to come home from work every Monday and be like “is our show on tonight”? That’s honestly the only show we bond over!! I can’t wait till it comes back on!!! September, I presume?
Very happy The Neighborhood is still on and signed for a second season. Was a little worried because some Monday’s it’s not on, but rather an episode of the Big Bang Theory. If I miss the show, I figured I can always log onto the CBS website. I don’t like a lot of shows on right now, but The Neighborhood is definitely a hit in my ratings. I tried to watch Madame Secretary but it was on so late Sunday night that I never got to watch it. And not it’s in its fifth season or so, and there’s just… Read more »
I’ve been sick, this show is just what the doctor ordered, truly hilarious.
Love it! Excellent writing and perfectly cast! Can’t wait for the next season!
I look forward to watching “The Neighborhood” every week. I find the imperfect characters very likable, their actions speak louder than their words. I was so happy to discover there will be a second season. I am looking forward to more laughs AND heart tugging moments, brief as they are. This TV show gives me hope!
Yes my wife and I find the neighborhood refreshingly decent and genuinely funny with good writing. There is a bit if realism w/o which comedy becomes just slapstick. Cedric holds it all together but each character adds to the good chemistry.
I find it has the potential to be another All in the Family or Jeffersons.
I checked the schedule for Monday night and The Neighborhood wasn’t there. I’m disappointed!! When will it be back on??? BRING IT BACK….PLEASE!!
Will definitely watch season 2. We love the show.
