It seems not even magic couldn’t help bring the ratings up. The CW has cancelled The Secret Circle after one season of 22 episodes.
A supernatural series, The Secret Circle follows teenager Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) who, after moving to Chance Harbor, discovers that she is a witch and part of a young secret coven. The show also stars Thomas Dekker, Gale Harold, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Shelly Hennig, Louis Hunter, Ashley Crow, and Natasha Henstridge.
When the season began, it looked like The CW had found the perfect match for their big hit, The Vampire Diaries. The premiere drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.05 million viewers. These days, those are excellent numbers for the smallest network.

In week two, the ratings dropped 31% but were still strong by CW standards. Unfortunately, over the course of the season, they have tumbled downward. They’ve gone as low as 0.5 rating with just 1.14 million viewers. Other CW shows were performing better and they didn’t have the advantage of having such a strong lead-in.
On our CW Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demographic numbers of shows on the network, The Secret Circle has a “B+” grade. That grade however is heavily reliant on the early season numbers and the show hasn’t been pulling those in months.
If The CW had renewed Secret Circle for a second season, the ratings would likely have been lower when it returned in the fall — lower still without a Vampire Diaries lead-in.
The CW has different standards for success than other networks and derives income from other sources beyond broadcast viewing. They also have just 10 hours of primetime space available. It just didn’t make sense to bring Secret Circle back for another season.
The series finale aired on last Thursday night, May 10th, so there won’t be any further resolution for the ongoing storylines.

I loved the Secret Circle. I wish they would renew it I would like to see Cassie and Adam’s story finished I hate that her father broke them up and would like to see them together for good. I got into the show close to the end of the season I didn’t know about it or I would have loved it from the start. CW needs to advertise there shows better.
Many people didn’t know about the show. It is advertising issue not the actual story and performance. Perhaps moving it to a different day or time works better.

This show should not of been cancelled, especially leaving off the way it did. It was an amazing show and doing well, it did bad for a couple weeks because it was the same thing over again and then it got better because it stayed interesting. The cw should bring back the show. If your gonna put a show on and ask our advise, you should take the advise, which means running the show again. I am really mad that they are not bringing this show back for a second season. When is Britt Robertson going to get a break. This is the second show (second good show) that you have cancelled. I don’t think you give your shows a chance. This is crap!!!
I cant believe they canceled this show I was so into it till I figured out there wasn’t going to be a second season. This one of my top shows that I enjoy watching.
This was a great show. I can not believe that they canceled it for no really good reason. It went well with vampire diaries. Now they just put spin offs of sex and the city and smallville on there. I mean green arrow and carrie come on now.Supernatural, Vampire diaries, and Secret Circle were shows I looked forward to every week. I think you should bring it back and see what the ratings are. Or at least do a web series to finish off all the story plots.
they should have never cancelled this show. there are so many other stupid ones that I would never watch on the CW……. bring it back!!!!!!
I am totally upset that I missed the finale even, and had no idea after I saw the marathon that the show would be cancelled. It really really deserves another season. This show has been much better than others in the past. You guys gave up too soon. and I feel sorry for all the talented actors and their hard work. If they reconcider…. i believe they would be surprized in the ratings…
My daughters and I are really upset we were looking forward to the next season, didn’t see it adv. so decided to look it up and found out it was cancelled. This stinks, it was a good show and we really liked it. Hopefully another station will pick it up , we are not happy with CW’s decision on this one.
This was an interesting show, I think it deserves a second season. I am not much of a TV watcher but when I found this show I have watched it ever since. Its really to bad considering all the other really poor shows that are on TV that they should cancel this one.
Honestly this show deserves another season it was to good . It was a show that got fans jumping on the feet rooting for the shows this was one of the best shows that i’ve watched that came in for the first season.You should really keep the show the last episodenfor season 1 was amazing it keep me wanting more of the show.You should give the show another chance maybe the rating will go more up.But ya’ll would’nt know because you buys are’nt giving the show another chance.You guys made a big mistake by cancelling the show.This show is amazing… Read more »

It should have been given a fare chance next season would have pulled in high rateings with the new twist with john Blackwells kids super powerd witches and wich hunters and a lot of back stabing what more can you ask for from a tv sitcom
No series should be allowed to end without closing up the loose ends of the ongoing story line.
i cant b live this every good show they want 2 cancle! im supriseed they still have a network at all. if it wasnt 4 vampire diaries and heart of dixi gossip girl and 90210 i wouldnt even watch cw. i knew they cancled secret circle when i started seein the same actors in other shows
