NBC has evicted one of its newest drama series. The network has cancelled The Village TV show so there won’t be a second season.
The Village stars Warren Christie, Michaela McManus, Lorraine Toussaint, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Dominic Chianese, Darren Kagasoff, Grace Van Dien, and Moran Atias. The story centers on the residents of a Brooklyn apartment building. While it looks the same as countless others from the outside, what goes on inside is rare, to say the least. Everyone at the Village has a story to tell, be it about their hopes and dreams, or the challenges they’re facing. Together, they’re a family and family means everything — even when you are not related.
The first season of The Village averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.12 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 21st.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Village ranks 13th in the demo and ninth in viewership. The series saw a momentary bump in the ratings ratings when NBC moved it an earlier timeslot but it didn’t last and the numbers soon hit new lows.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Enemy Within and Abby’s TV shows.
What do you think? Do you like The Village TV show? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled. Would you have watched season two on NBC?
Please, please , please don’t cancel The Village. Loved this show
I loved the village! It was actually the only show I made time to watch! So sad
Hey, NBC, please renew The Village. It’s well-worth bringing back for another season!
I cannot believe The Village HS been cancelled. You give us a wonderful family/neighborhood show and take it away just as it is starting to develop. This is a bad call on someone’s part and very disappointing.
My husband and I love this series. Please bring The Village back.
The Village is a wonderful show. The intertwining of the storylines is complicated and entertaining.
I feel bad that the series has been cancelled.
Nooo!!! One of very few shows that I couldn’t wait to watch every week. Soon I’ll just quit tv all together- it gets worse & worse!
Please do not cancel The Village. It is the only show on NBC that I watch except This Is Us
The Village is a touching tender hopeful show. People who have become family because of their proximity to each other. Military folks have this same phenomenon when away from home. NBC rethink your decision. It takes awhile for some shows to catch on. Granted there is no pulse racing fast action that viewers have become addicted to however it is a feel good show and should be given another chance to shine. Thank you
We love The Village, don’t cancel this show. The cast is fantastic and works well together. There aren’t many shows with this many characters that have such great plot lines! BRING BACK THE VILLAGE!!!!!!
I loved the show. I fell in love with the characters the very first show. They are deeply developed and there were surprises around every turn. NBC is stupid!!! Sometimes it takes a while to catch on. Give it a chance. I would think all the liberals out there would love it since it has all their causes in its story lines. I’m a conservative, but I still love it anyway.
I loved this show. I can’t believe you have decided to cancel it. Real life families with real life issues deserve at least two seasons (all shows need an ending).
Are you kidding me?! I loved EVERYTHING above this show. I watch it on Hulu and just googled when the next one would be out. This is soooo disappointing!!!! Please PLEASE PLEASE bring it back!!!!
All the good shows are cancelled. You become invested in characters played by some wonderful actors and actresses and then they aren’t given the chance to develop their characters. Shame on NBC!
I liked this show. I wonder if whatever replaces it will do well enough in the ratings to survive more than one season, or will it just get cancelled too. They give us a TV series. We get a little attached to the characters, and then they take them away from us. Just to do it again the next season.
I lost several series that I liked. “For the People”, which I thought was particularly appropriate for our time. “Proven Innocent” was another.
Do they really fail to make money on these, or are they just not making enough money?
