Timeless is making a big move. Variety reports season two of the NBC TV show is moving production from Canada to California.
The news comes about a month after the network decided to renew the time-travel drama only after announcing it was cancelled. The NBC series stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, and Goran Visnjic.
This week, the California Film Commission announced Timeless has been awarded a tax credit to relocate production from Canada. This means season two will cost NBC and studio Sony Pictures Television considerably less than season one.
Other series moving production from Canada to California include FX’s Legion, FOX’s Lucifer, and ABC’s Mistresses.

Yes I will definitely be watching Season 2. I’m curious though why production costs will be lower in California since the US dollar is worth 1/3 more in Canada?
And why did they film there in the first place. I think the exchange between the two currencies was about the same last year.
The production costs aren’t lower, in fact the budget per episode will be the same as in season 1. But they’ll produce less episodes (at least for now, maybe there’s the possibilit of a back 3/6), and they’ll get a tax credit of almost 10 million USD. 😉 With this it’s cheaper to produce in LA than in Vacouver.

Yes I will watch Season two of Timeless . I was so happy it wasn’t cancelled, so many of my shows that I watch are esther cancelled or series finally.

I am thrilled Timeless will be renewed. It was a show my husband and i enjoyed together and look forward to Season 2.
I will be watching season 2 for sure. It has been a great show so far, but like the show X Files that was filmed in Canada then moved to the States in its final years there was a noticeable difference in the look and feel of the show. It didn’t seem so fresh and real once it moved. I’m not sure why that is.
