Training Day TV show star, Bill Paxton, passed away on February 25th, at just 61 years of age, due to complications following surgery. Since his new CBS cop drama is only four episodes into its 13 episode first season, fans have asked how the loss of this accomplished actor will affect the first season, and if CBS will cancel or renew Training Day for season two.
Picking up years after the movie, Training Day follows Detective Frank Rourke (Paxton). He’s the maverick head of a special unit that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. LAPD brass assigns heroic Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell) to pose as Frank’s trainee. Kyle is to spy on Frank and report on his off-book methods. The rest of the CBS cast includes Katrina Law, Drew Van Acker, Lex Scott Davis, Julie Benz, Christina Vidal, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Will Training Day Season One Continue? Will this TV Show Be Cancelled or Renewed for a Season Two on CBS?
The first season of Training Day is currently averaging a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.165 million viewers. Compared to other CBS TV shows, the cop drama currently ranks 22nd out of the 25 scripted Tiffany Network TV shows we’re tracking. Even if we hadn’t lost the talented Mr. Paxton far too soon, CBS was unlikely to renew Training Day for season two.
There is one bright spot for fans. Deadline reports that season one production wrapped in December, which means all 13 episodes from the show’s first-season have already been shot. There are still nine new Training Day episodes, starring Paxton, to come on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Training Day TV show? Will you keep watching it, without Paxton? Should CBS cancel or renew Training Day for season two? Let us know, below.
please keep training day. I found it engrossing and loved the characters.
Very good show and story line. I would like to see it continued for a second season.
Love the show. Hope it continues.
I hope the show continues; however, don’t know how they’ll find someone with the chemistry Bill Paxton had with his “trainee”.
I will continue to watch the show for as long as it runs. I hope it will continue for 2nd season. There is always a way to make necessary changes. Bill Paxton was terrific.
Great show concept and cast….like it better than the movie…intense but not overpowering….could be salvaged with a new character like Frank’s or with the right replacement…
Yes I will still watch the shoe, because the storyline and plot ate Fantastic.
I would still watch it without Paxton. He will be missed.
I like training day. Reason for low rating is it’s on.Saturday you know people go out. Give another season, but on weekdays and on early time. It would be niece to have it return. There is a actor i seen ‘s on ncis or criminal minds. This actor has the same voice as Bill paxton. And looks about his age.
I hope it comes back out. I would still watch it. I like the show. Paxton will be missed but the story should go on.
I would like to see Training day continue. I think Tim Olyphant could play the part of Frank Roarke.
I like Tim, but not as Frank.
I think Tim would fill the role well.
please renew training day bill Paxton was a great actor I’m sure he would want the show to continue recast his caractor i love training day all though i will miss bill Paxton i will continue to watch training day pleases renew the show . thank you Susan zolciak
We really enjoy this show. Not just because of Bill Paxton but because the whole ensemble works well together and the writing is smart. There are some fine actors out there that could take over Paxton’s role. He will be missed and I think he would want the show to continue.
Hope Training Day continues. Other shows have replaced an actor with another actor. I have friends that do not watch because they don’t want to get interested in the show since they don’t know if it will continue next year. The show is well written and the other actors and actress are great. Continue the show PLEASE
Enjoy show. Want to see it continue to season two. Writers can work around death of Bill Pullman.
Seems like most people want the show to continue.
It probably won’t, because the shows I like don’t stay around. I watched a series Bill’s son was in and it’s not coming back.
I love this show too – love the cast – so saddened about Bill Paxton’s passing…..big shoes to fill for sure and not quite sure how the story line will continue and you just simply recast his role, but I do think it should be renewed and continue forward – give it one more chance, CBS!!! Maybe give it a different night/time but I think it is worth one more try and possibly owe to Bill Paxton and his memory????!!!!
Love Training Day! Recast Tom Paxton’s role…
