Training Day TV show star, Bill Paxton, passed away on February 25th, at just 61 years of age, due to complications following surgery. Since his new CBS cop drama is only four episodes into its 13 episode first season, fans have asked how the loss of this accomplished actor will affect the first season, and if CBS will cancel or renew Training Day for season two.
Picking up years after the movie, Training Day follows Detective Frank Rourke (Paxton). He’s the maverick head of a special unit that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. LAPD brass assigns heroic Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell) to pose as Frank’s trainee. Kyle is to spy on Frank and report on his off-book methods. The rest of the CBS cast includes Katrina Law, Drew Van Acker, Lex Scott Davis, Julie Benz, Christina Vidal, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Will Training Day Season One Continue? Will this TV Show Be Cancelled or Renewed for a Season Two on CBS?
The first season of Training Day is currently averaging a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.165 million viewers. Compared to other CBS TV shows, the cop drama currently ranks 22nd out of the 25 scripted Tiffany Network TV shows we’re tracking. Even if we hadn’t lost the talented Mr. Paxton far too soon, CBS was unlikely to renew Training Day for season two.
There is one bright spot for fans. Deadline reports that season one production wrapped in December, which means all 13 episodes from the show’s first-season have already been shot. There are still nine new Training Day episodes, starring Paxton, to come on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Training Day TV show? Will you keep watching it, without Paxton? Should CBS cancel or renew Training Day for season two? Let us know, below.
I love the character Bill played, and I’m sadden by his premature death. I will continue to watch the show without him; providing the actor they choose has similar acting ability.
I really hope that the show is continued. There are so many unanswered questions. I don’t know how to do that without Bill Paxton which is why I started watching the show. I want to know how Kyle’s Dad was murdered and How crooked is the captain and if so who else is in on it with her. Do Kyle and his wife make it? I haven’t missed an episode.
I think they should get Kevin bacon and carry on.
Kevin is good but I really don’t think he could do it justice. The actor needs to be a cross of Bill and Clint Eastwood. Need someone like them with the smart ass remarks
I like the show but mainly for Mr . Paxton character he made the show and I feel for his family he was far to young to go
My husband and I watch the show and look forward to it each week. It should be renewed. I know it will be hard to find the right actor but it is a good job and I would like to see it continue.
yes i feel it should be renewed too, they could always use flashbacks of frank from season one. but like any GOOD show the network cancels it. i am so afraid to like any show anymore because if i do, SURE AS ****, it gets cancelled and crap like TWO BROKE GIRLS stays on. you get my drift
Watching the training days to see you go off the air please try to keep it going
I would definitely watch the show, especially if it keeps sense of humor, and pacing of story. Always loved Bill Paxton – no one will replace him, it should be another character representing the spirit and intent of the presentation of his.
Can’t continue the show without the talented Bill Paxton!! I’ve watched all his movies and tv shows! He could never be replaced, and the show would not be the same without him! Rest in Paradise Wild Bill
One of the best shows on tv. PLEASE don’t cancel. So sorry for Bill Paxton’s death but find a way around it PLEASE.
Absolutely continue “Training Day” -without Bill Paxton. His unexplainable disappearance would lend creedence to both his and his dead partner’s quest for truth and justice – as only they were brave enough to bring it. This series’ continuance would also firmly challenge the character of Joy as being a very bad person. Though I didn’t know Mr. Paxton or his family, I’ve watched his entire career, and been pleased and incredibly entertained with his acting and my feeling he waa having fun with the portrayal of an unique character – and bring it to fore as only he could. Love the show, would still watch, love thee story line and the rest of the cast
Please continue Training Day. I think Bill Paxton would want that. Maybe if Bill Pullman is available. Robert DeNiro would be great in it too.
I absolutely love the show and think it would be absolutely a shame to discontinue the series Bill Paxton was an amazing actor and definitely makes the show but I really think that it’s an excellent TV series and I would continue to watch it and I think that if nothing else it should be continued in his honor
I would definitely continue watching the show. Bill Paxton will truly be missed but with the right script this show can go on. Me and my dad look forward to every episode. I love this show. Show me you guys have creative minds. I have a few ideas that would work.
We love the show. He will be hard to replace. I do not see how the show could go forward without his character. It would be nice if they could somehow do one more show to write him out in a spectacular way,
I LOVE this show. Excellent story lines. I hope they find a way to weave the huge loss of Paxon into the story line. One man can take this show to a new level and that’s the man who plays Voight on Chicago PD. The show has great promise. Please dodon’t cancel.
Bill Paxton will be very hard to replace . We love the show and would hope it continues only if the Paxton family feels that It would be Bills wishes . I think it would be a tribute to Bill for the show to continue we will be watching! RIP Bill Paxton
I don’t think they should replace him. Even though I started watching because of Bill Paxton, his death should be part of the show and his partner should take over. He’s finally catching on of how crooked the Captain is and I would like to find out about his father. I’m still so sad about Bill and when I see him on the show I still cant believe he is gone. He was a special person.
I’ve read that even if he were still alive that they probably wouldn’t have renewed the show.
