Training Day TV show star, Bill Paxton, passed away on February 25th, at just 61 years of age, due to complications following surgery. Since his new CBS cop drama is only four episodes into its 13 episode first season, fans have asked how the loss of this accomplished actor will affect the first season, and if CBS will cancel or renew Training Day for season two.
Picking up years after the movie, Training Day follows Detective Frank Rourke (Paxton). He’s the maverick head of a special unit that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. LAPD brass assigns heroic Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell) to pose as Frank’s trainee. Kyle is to spy on Frank and report on his off-book methods. The rest of the CBS cast includes Katrina Law, Drew Van Acker, Lex Scott Davis, Julie Benz, Christina Vidal, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Will Training Day Season One Continue? Will this TV Show Be Cancelled or Renewed for a Season Two on CBS?
The first season of Training Day is currently averaging a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.165 million viewers. Compared to other CBS TV shows, the cop drama currently ranks 22nd out of the 25 scripted Tiffany Network TV shows we’re tracking. Even if we hadn’t lost the talented Mr. Paxton far too soon, CBS was unlikely to renew Training Day for season two.
There is one bright spot for fans. Deadline reports that season one production wrapped in December, which means all 13 episodes from the show’s first-season have already been shot. There are still nine new Training Day episodes, starring Paxton, to come on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Training Day TV show? Will you keep watching it, without Paxton? Should CBS cancel or renew Training Day for season two? Let us know, below.
I hope it continues, just started watching an missed the first few episodes. I like the show
Work in the Law Enforcement field presently and i don’t like most “Cop” shows but i find Mr. Bill Paxton’s character well written and story development of his character and supporting cast character well thought out. I believe this was his best work yet and i’am sorry for his family loss, R.I.P.
Yes, I would definitely continue to watch this show. It is one of the better ones. Hard to find good shows anymore
I liked the show. I liked Bill Paxton as the lead. He was a very talented actor. I have many of his movies. I think to honor him, he should have a good send off and continue the works in his honor. Many actors/talent/athletes pass…how do you think they would like to be remembered? I would think since he kicked it off, he would like to have seen it make it.
Seriously–you canceled a unique show like Pure Genius for a stereotypical plot and overbooked genre like a Training Day? There is no hope –maybe Netflix is the answer. ..
So sad to hear of Bill Paxton’s death. Really enjoyed Training Day with him starring. I would like to see if they can bring in someone equal to Bill. Maybe Mel Gibson or Mark Wahlberg?
We LOVE Training Day and will miss the great acting of Bill Paxton. We hope it will be renewed for Season 2.
I have enjoyed watching Training Day and will miss Bill Paxton, I hope you can find some one to replace him and continue on with the show.
Thank you
Juanita
I love training day! I was surprised to learn of the low ratings on such a great show! People just don’t know what they are missing out on!!!!!
Please keep the show on and even though Bill Paxton will be missed please keep the show going in his memory. I think the writing and storylines are well done. Please keep it going. Thanks
We watch it every week. And if they find someone like his character we will keep watching.
I really enjoyed the training days series and I hope the CBS can continue with it into a second season.
Yes we would continue to watch, we enjoyed the show alot. The network should consider Timothy Oliphant for Paxton s character.
Who are we kidding ? Bill Paxton’s Frank Rourke is the reason this show was great, He is impossible to recast. The only name suggested so far l think could still make the show a success would be Timothy Oliphant. Good suggestion Joy
I love the show would without a doubt continue to watch the show with a new leading actor. The show has a lot of potential and is so far the highlight of my week.
I love the show but you would need a really good actor to go into the role left by the untimely passing of Bill Paxton
