Training Day TV show star, Bill Paxton, passed away on February 25th, at just 61 years of age, due to complications following surgery. Since his new CBS cop drama is only four episodes into its 13 episode first season, fans have asked how the loss of this accomplished actor will affect the first season, and if CBS will cancel or renew Training Day for season two.
Picking up years after the movie, Training Day follows Detective Frank Rourke (Paxton). He’s the maverick head of a special unit that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. LAPD brass assigns heroic Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell) to pose as Frank’s trainee. Kyle is to spy on Frank and report on his off-book methods. The rest of the CBS cast includes Katrina Law, Drew Van Acker, Lex Scott Davis, Julie Benz, Christina Vidal, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Will Training Day Season One Continue? Will this TV Show Be Cancelled or Renewed for a Season Two on CBS?
The first season of Training Day is currently averaging a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.165 million viewers. Compared to other CBS TV shows, the cop drama currently ranks 22nd out of the 25 scripted Tiffany Network TV shows we’re tracking. Even if we hadn’t lost the talented Mr. Paxton far too soon, CBS was unlikely to renew Training Day for season two.
There is one bright spot for fans. Deadline reports that season one production wrapped in December, which means all 13 episodes from the show’s first-season have already been shot. There are still nine new Training Day episodes, starring Paxton, to come on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Training Day TV show? Will you keep watching it, without Paxton? Should CBS cancel or renew Training Day for season two? Let us know, below.
Love this show. My mom and i watch it together. We will miss Bill Paxton, he was an excellent actor. Please re-new the show and keep it goin for more seasons. Joel
My husband & I love Training Day. We hope you won’t cancel the show. Just be careful in choosing the replacement.
Great show. I agree with Victoria . Kevin bacon or john stamos replacements. Don’t cancel. Ted
John Stamos ?
Loved Paxton and will miss him. RIP! It’s a good show with a cast of good actors/characters in addition to Paxton. I would watch a second season if the show continues.
Keep the series. Great series. Get a new actor to replace Paxton.
We as a family loved this show and think you should keep it on for sure. If the same guy who killed Paxtons partner killed him too then the son would really have reason to go after him along with the female role whos character could really show her talents as a detective. You need one power house to walk in and take Paxtons place. Like Kevin Bacon,
James Purefoy, Josh Lucas or John Stamos are talens that make good tv and I do believe they are available?
This show is fantastic. Storyline is
great and acting is superb. Bill’s
Partner can carry show…..choose
wisely the right actor to blend into
the cast…… perhaps even a woman.
Paxton would be proud of this high
Quality production.
Regards and break a leg season 2
Please it’s a great show !!!!!
I like this show and i tbink it is a good one. It is sad Bill Paxon died. He was a good actor. Its hard to start watching new tv show because it seems like they always gets cancelled because most people dvr the shows and watches them later because they work or don’t have time to watch when it ares live on the network. There needs to be a new policy on this issue. These shows still should get the rating because it was being recorded. If there wasn’t so many dumb Comercials maybe people would watch them more… Read more »
We really enjoy this show! However, without Bill, it would never be the same! We record most of what we watch and after his passing, it took us several weeks to watch the recorded shows. Not really sure it can go on! RIP Bill Paxton!
Janet Bradshaw I think with one season you can have another with either replacing him or killing him it can work. I like this show and would like to see it work
The gritty nature of the Roarke character is a great change of pace from other cop shows. The experience of the detective and connections to each of the other characters in the show make this compelling to watch. I would love to see the show continue, but can’t imagine who would play the part in Bill’s place. I have followed Bill Paxton’s career because we are from the same town, and HS. it has been wonderful to see him thrive through the years, and it was a real sad day for all of us from the ‘ol hood when he… Read more »
