Do the ratings for the Vikings TV show matter to the folks over at History? The series saw another big drop in the ratings last year — down 28% in the demo and 44% in viewers — but the cable channel renewed it for a supersized fourth season anyway. Will the numbers keep falling? Cancelled or renewed for a fifth season? Stay tuned.
Vikings takes place in the brutal and mysterious world of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore (and raid) the distant shores across the ocean. The rest of the large cast includes Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Gustaf Skarsgård, Alyssa Sutherland, Linus Roache, Alexander Ludwig, Ben Robson, Moe Dunford, Lothaire Bluteau, Jasper Paakkonen, Kevin Durand, Jennie Jacques, Peter Franzen, Morgane Polanski, Amy Bailey, Dianne Doan, and John Kavanagh.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays.

I would love to see them back on screen!! The actors are amazingly fierce yet mysterious. I would love to have them add mkre information off of what they have built in their findings of the real northmen. From what ive read Iva was more known then Ragnar.
I love the show Vikings I do miss it at time because of work schedule but I try to watch it on demand but it’s not always on the on demand I hope history channel keeps the show on
I’m looking at the sea of green which means ratings are up and the chart above doesn’t even reflect the massive + 3 and + 7 viewership. It’s the number 8 drama show in all of cable. The Americans and Fargo wish they “tanked” even in the same neighborhood as Vikings ratings.
Yours is a tiny minority opinion, sorry.
It’s amazing how many people liked season 4 with such ignorance. It’s almost as if they didn’t watch the show in the beginning. The first 2 seasons were great, season 3 was good until the show seemed more like “Intervention” with a drug addicted Ragnar moping about like a baby squirrel. In my opinion, the show should have ended when Ragnar died and Odin tells his sons and then pans to the sky to see Ragnar and Athelstan passing by each other going to their respective afterlives, or both going to Heaven if Ragnar converted to Christianity. The retribution against… Read more »
Vikings is very cool and this show is one of the most realistic depictions of life during that time. Of course it takes some liberties for entertainment value but
very well produced and written. hope it has a long life and tell all !
So thats really it.viking season 4 is done?i keep anticipating every wednesday if it will air but it airs real vikings.this show is good but it doesnt tell when its end or not.it would be more exciting if ragnar is still alive koz he is the center of the story
While not depicting history accurately, it provides a potential insight into how Viking life occurred. I can say human nature hasn’t changed much in 1200 years.
Just streamed seasons 1-4a over the past two months. Waiting for season 4B to stream to get fully caught up.
I have watched this show since the beginning. I am happy that the HISTORY Channel has continued bringing it back. I was saddened when Ragnor was killed but that is life, especially a Viking’s life. I would like to see the show continue with Ragnor’s legacy to his sons, and the continued domination of the Vikings in the British Isles.
Even with Ragners death, the Viking is still one of the best TV SHOWS!!! High Quality TV series! BRAVO History Channel! Can’t wait for season 5! Thanks For bringing this Epic part of History to our Homes!
I really hate that Ragnor has been killed on the show, but I want to watch to see what the writers are going to with Lagertha she is a true warrior.
Since they have kileed off ragnor already and so many of the other main characters the show is getting very shallow, it isnt as well written as it once was and the sons do not have enough depth of character to carry the show.
I would like to watch the continuing saga following the son’s of Ragnar and hope that the show is renewed.
Loved the show, watched every episode. Ragnor is dead, don’t know if Rollo is still alive. Would like to see how his live is finished off. The sons of Ragnor can surely give us their BEST efforts now. Ivar killed his brother, how will that be in the next show now? I am sure Hurst can do some good script on it. Lagertha hasn’t died yet. Floki walks off into the mist, could he come back to help Ivar conquer England? There are still enough stories to keep 2 million people watching. It is much better watching Vikings then Trump… Read more »
No Ragnar, No Show…..Ragnar was the only reason I watch. His last episode was my last episode.
You do realize per that chart that ratings are UP since Ragnar’s death?
It went up slightly because viewers wanted to see what the sons of Ragnar did in response to his death, but then dropped back down when nothing happned. Viewers have been waiting to see some actual action which we didn’t have the entire season 4 until the last 2 episodes. Vikings viewership is down -7.29% from this time last year. Not sure what chart you’re looking at but overall the show is tanking. The season finale got high ratings because they wanted to see King Ecbert’s death, which was boring unfortunately. The bickering of the sons of Ragnar is annoying… Read more »
