TV show description:
This dramedy TV series revolves around the last days of mankind. When word gets out that a comet is on a collision course with Earth, an unexpected chain of events is set in motion. What will people do in the 34 days they have left?
Against a backdrop of apocalyptic chaos, an eclectic group of seemingly unconnected characters from around the world begin to intersect in unexpected ways. They each cope with the impending end of the world in his or her own bizarre way.
Father Jude Sutton (Rob Lowe) is a rebellious and foul-mouthed priest and he’s aided by his timid assistant, Sister Celine Leonti (Gaia Scodellaro).
A mild-mannered librarian, Rhonda McNeil (Jenna Fischer) finds herself dangerously out of her depth when she is sent to a maximum-security prison for a crime she didn’t commit.
Rhonda unwillingly befriends Leanne Parkins (Megan Mullally), an unhinged white supremacist who takes the deeply reluctant librarian under her wing. Morally dubious (but intensely loyal), Leanne is a woman who is uniquely suited to surviving the end of times.
Rhonda’s twin brother is Scotty McNeil (Kyle Soller). He’s a member of the Specials Situations Group — the underfunded department responsible for planning the official U.S. government response to apocalyptic scenarios. He works with his boyfriend, U.S. General Arnold Gaines (Paterson Joseph) to try to stop the comet.
Meanwhile, Jamie Winton (Mathew Baynton) is a humble bank manager from Slough who is hopelessly stuck in a rut. He lives with his adoptive mother, Paula (Pauline Quirke), and Dave Bosley (Joel Fry) is Jamie’s laid-back best friend.
Jamie’s still in mourning over the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Layla, seven years ago. Spurred into action as a result of the impending apocalypse, Jamie embarks on a perilous quest to finally find his loved one.
Jamie learns that he has an estranged twin brother named Ariel Conroy (Mathew Baynton). He’s also known as the White Horse and is the leader of a cyber terrorist group called Deus Ex Machina.
Some of the misfits are destined to make it to a safety bunker that’s deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough. They will ultimately become the unlikely (and totally unsuitable) future of mankind.
Episode #10 — The End of the World
Rhonda is reunited with her family as they fly to the bunker in Slough. When a piece of the comet hits the jet and forces them to crash-land two miles from their destination, Rhonda is forced to make a difficult moral decision.
Frankie follows the voice in her head to find Paula and Dave and lead them to Jamie in the bank vault, where Jamie learns Dave and his mum are married, and they learn Ariel has assumed Jamie’s identity.
Celine gets a surprising message from Jude’s spirit.
Layla figures out Ariel isn’t Jamie and makes a harrowing escape. She reunites with Jamie and the gang, and when they encounter a downed bridge, Jamie does something that stuns everyone.
With Jamie’s help, Rajesh volunteers to make the ultimate sacrifice for the group. After who we think is Jamie runs inside, we soon discover the real Jamie naked at the side of the truck. Ariel has entered the bunker, not Jamie. (Courtesy NBC.)
First aired: March 31, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show? Would you have liked to see the characters return for a second season?
If the show has low ratings it is only because it wasn’t publicized well. The cast is great. The storyline is quirky, funny, thought provoking, etc.. I have encouraged others to watch it and have been thanked for doing so.
Oh my! … I loved this show. I don’t think it was promoted properly because I only stumbled upon it on demand after the 7th episode. Now I’m sad to hear it won’t return. Every time NBC has a show I like they cancel it. I’m not sure who they are looking to market too, but apparently it’s not individuals like me.
Surely we will be told whether the real Jamie is reunited with his family & friends — he is the son of God, afterall! Bring them back for a 2 hour finale, at the very least!
I love love love You, me and the Apocalypse’. It’s such a funny, smart excellent show. I hope Netflix picks it up. I’ve already sent a tweet to them regarding the show. There are so many unanswered questions. It has a whole lot more story to tell and I hope someone picks it up. PLEEEEAAASSSSE! Someone!!
Loved this show. Enjoyed the intertwining story lines. Woild love to see a second season, especially with how thw firat one ended. So many interesting possibilities.
NBC can suck it! Give us a second season!
My family really liked this show. Would like to see a second season.
This is a funny and smartly written show! I got everyone in my family and office to watch it. Please have a second season and resolve the story!
Excellent series! Please have a second season
This is such a terrific show. We really enjoyed the originality and the acting. The entire family enjoyed this together and all of us were to sad to hear that there would be no season 2. Hopefully they will reconsider and move it to a different day and time slot to generate better ratings. Doesn’t seem like they gave it a real chance at all and did very little to promote the show.
Awesome show! Please don’t go! Please please please!!!
Thank you cooler heads at corporate tv waste land for putting this dog to sleep.
YMATA is a fantastic show that is showing how far a human will go to survive. Also shows how far leaders (countries, religious and business) will go to mislead people. Love it….good drama, good comedy. Sitting on the edge of my seat until next season. Renew please!,,,,
Please renew You, Me and the Apocalypse!!!! We loved it!!!!
Please renew Me, You, and the Apocalypse! It’s smart and interesting. Probably why it got cancelled.
