TV show description:
This dramedy TV series revolves around the last days of mankind. When word gets out that a comet is on a collision course with Earth, an unexpected chain of events is set in motion. What will people do in the 34 days they have left?
Against a backdrop of apocalyptic chaos, an eclectic group of seemingly unconnected characters from around the world begin to intersect in unexpected ways. They each cope with the impending end of the world in his or her own bizarre way.
Father Jude Sutton (Rob Lowe) is a rebellious and foul-mouthed priest and he’s aided by his timid assistant, Sister Celine Leonti (Gaia Scodellaro).
A mild-mannered librarian, Rhonda McNeil (Jenna Fischer) finds herself dangerously out of her depth when she is sent to a maximum-security prison for a crime she didn’t commit.
Rhonda unwillingly befriends Leanne Parkins (Megan Mullally), an unhinged white supremacist who takes the deeply reluctant librarian under her wing. Morally dubious (but intensely loyal), Leanne is a woman who is uniquely suited to surviving the end of times.
Rhonda’s twin brother is Scotty McNeil (Kyle Soller). He’s a member of the Specials Situations Group — the underfunded department responsible for planning the official U.S. government response to apocalyptic scenarios. He works with his boyfriend, U.S. General Arnold Gaines (Paterson Joseph) to try to stop the comet.
Meanwhile, Jamie Winton (Mathew Baynton) is a humble bank manager from Slough who is hopelessly stuck in a rut. He lives with his adoptive mother, Paula (Pauline Quirke), and Dave Bosley (Joel Fry) is Jamie’s laid-back best friend.
Jamie’s still in mourning over the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Layla, seven years ago. Spurred into action as a result of the impending apocalypse, Jamie embarks on a perilous quest to finally find his loved one.
Jamie learns that he has an estranged twin brother named Ariel Conroy (Mathew Baynton). He’s also known as the White Horse and is the leader of a cyber terrorist group called Deus Ex Machina.
Some of the misfits are destined to make it to a safety bunker that’s deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough. They will ultimately become the unlikely (and totally unsuitable) future of mankind.
Episode #10 — The End of the World
Rhonda is reunited with her family as they fly to the bunker in Slough. When a piece of the comet hits the jet and forces them to crash-land two miles from their destination, Rhonda is forced to make a difficult moral decision.
Frankie follows the voice in her head to find Paula and Dave and lead them to Jamie in the bank vault, where Jamie learns Dave and his mum are married, and they learn Ariel has assumed Jamie’s identity.
Celine gets a surprising message from Jude’s spirit.
Layla figures out Ariel isn’t Jamie and makes a harrowing escape. She reunites with Jamie and the gang, and when they encounter a downed bridge, Jamie does something that stuns everyone.
With Jamie’s help, Rajesh volunteers to make the ultimate sacrifice for the group. After who we think is Jamie runs inside, we soon discover the real Jamie naked at the side of the truck. Ariel has entered the bunker, not Jamie. (Courtesy NBC.)
First aired: March 31, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show? Would you have liked to see the characters return for a second season?
Please bring on season 2 the script has been the best with twist and turns, it’s been the best thing on tv in a long time. The humor was there the twist exciting
BRING IT BACK!!!! Took a minute to win me over…..but I really really dug it – let’s go SEASON 2!!!!!!!
Yes, my wife and I would have loved to see a second season. The ending was very disappointing. Ariel needs to be cut down.
This is a show that needs time for word of mouth to build an audience. It is a great show and should be renewed. Even Breaking Bad needed a couple seasons to become a hit. The network should rethink this one! I for one made it appointment TV and have told family and friends about it.
I was disappointed in the ending and want a second season Jamie needs to fight with Ariel and win.
Please bring it back! I honestly loved this show!
Yes!! Bring a second season!!!
This off-beat and quirky com-drama is one of the few new concepts on television and I have loved it and have relished the anticipation of each new episode. Let’s face it, network TV world consists largely of, say, 100,000 acts focused on the raping-murdering-maiming-terrorizing-and even cannibalizing of women, along with a handful of heavily-scripted “reality” shows, and a few sit-coms made lame by poor writing. In contrast, YM&theA is funny, cleverly constructed, well written and has characters perfectly cast that you can care about. Anticipating how the plot will come together each week has been something to look forward to.… Read more »
At least a one off episode to settle things, what was that? Jamie was outside the bunker?! We need to see that remedied, i figured that manhole wasn’t there by accident. He must get underground and find a back entrance in. If not all those people will be stuck forever b/c there is a truck blocking the main entrance. Not to mention I’d like to see how they fare in the bunker what with crazy lady talking about offing people, a pregnant nun, and ariel standing in as jamie. There’s a lot to be done with this show, even if… Read more »
We deserve a second season of the show having Jamie outside the bunker as the series finale is no logical way to end a show…..give us what we want abc, you’re better than this..
I don’t get it. After the last episode and Jamie didn’t make it into the bunker, I shouted “Hooray!”, there’s going to be a second season!! Surely, if there wasn’t going to be a second season the hero (apparently the son of God) WOULD BE IN THE BUNKER! You owe us a second season.
This was absolutely the worst way to leave this off…. I watch very few shows all the way through the first season and this was sadly one of them…. all the while I was thinking season two would cover them inside the damn bunker. There was so much potential for episodes left and so much left unanswered. Then again I am not surprised that the network would cancel a gem like this one given the regular trash they keep throwing at viewers over and over again.
Yes i would have love to see another season or a two hour special with their survival i enjoy the show very much where can i purchase the show all 10 episodes. I hate when you cancel a show i really love
For once NBC has introduced something sophisticated, quirky and well acted. Of course they will cancel. There are few good shows. This was one of them. I suppose they could do another ridiculous reality show which will cost next to nothing to produce.
Argh, every time I get hooked on a good show it gets cancelled. My wife and I really enjoy this show. We always feel that time flies when watching it. Really sorry to hear the news.
