TV show description:
This dramedy TV series revolves around the last days of mankind. When word gets out that a comet is on a collision course with Earth, an unexpected chain of events is set in motion. What will people do in the 34 days they have left?
Against a backdrop of apocalyptic chaos, an eclectic group of seemingly unconnected characters from around the world begin to intersect in unexpected ways. They each cope with the impending end of the world in his or her own bizarre way.
Father Jude Sutton (Rob Lowe) is a rebellious and foul-mouthed priest and he’s aided by his timid assistant, Sister Celine Leonti (Gaia Scodellaro).
A mild-mannered librarian, Rhonda McNeil (Jenna Fischer) finds herself dangerously out of her depth when she is sent to a maximum-security prison for a crime she didn’t commit.
Rhonda unwillingly befriends Leanne Parkins (Megan Mullally), an unhinged white supremacist who takes the deeply reluctant librarian under her wing. Morally dubious (but intensely loyal), Leanne is a woman who is uniquely suited to surviving the end of times.
Rhonda’s twin brother is Scotty McNeil (Kyle Soller). He’s a member of the Specials Situations Group — the underfunded department responsible for planning the official U.S. government response to apocalyptic scenarios. He works with his boyfriend, U.S. General Arnold Gaines (Paterson Joseph) to try to stop the comet.
Meanwhile, Jamie Winton (Mathew Baynton) is a humble bank manager from Slough who is hopelessly stuck in a rut. He lives with his adoptive mother, Paula (Pauline Quirke), and Dave Bosley (Joel Fry) is Jamie’s laid-back best friend.
Jamie’s still in mourning over the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Layla, seven years ago. Spurred into action as a result of the impending apocalypse, Jamie embarks on a perilous quest to finally find his loved one.
Jamie learns that he has an estranged twin brother named Ariel Conroy (Mathew Baynton). He’s also known as the White Horse and is the leader of a cyber terrorist group called Deus Ex Machina.
Some of the misfits are destined to make it to a safety bunker that’s deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough. They will ultimately become the unlikely (and totally unsuitable) future of mankind.
Episode #10 — The End of the World
Rhonda is reunited with her family as they fly to the bunker in Slough. When a piece of the comet hits the jet and forces them to crash-land two miles from their destination, Rhonda is forced to make a difficult moral decision.
Frankie follows the voice in her head to find Paula and Dave and lead them to Jamie in the bank vault, where Jamie learns Dave and his mum are married, and they learn Ariel has assumed Jamie’s identity.
Celine gets a surprising message from Jude’s spirit.
Layla figures out Ariel isn’t Jamie and makes a harrowing escape. She reunites with Jamie and the gang, and when they encounter a downed bridge, Jamie does something that stuns everyone.
With Jamie’s help, Rajesh volunteers to make the ultimate sacrifice for the group. After who we think is Jamie runs inside, we soon discover the real Jamie naked at the side of the truck. Ariel has entered the bunker, not Jamie. (Courtesy NBC.)
First aired: March 31, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show? Would you have liked to see the characters return for a second season?
I can’t believe this wasn’t renewed. Best show on TV. I’m just going to watch Netflix because it seems like every time I find a smart, witty show . . . it get’s cancelled. Tired of having my heart broken – just going to “be single” and watch old Netflix series for a while.
Maybe it would help if we started a petition.
I am so sad to hear this show got canceled! Each episode was so full of emotion. I would watch it on regular TV then rewatch it on the ap. After the finale I couldn’t turn my mind off from playing and replaying possible scenarios that would make the ending ok. PLEASE bring this show back! Or if nothing else please post a follow-up on the characters so we can have closure. (But I’d prefer the return of season 2.)
I LOVED this show! Very unique and interesting characters. A great change from the typical scripted reality TV shows. Another season PLEASE!!!!
I LOVED this show, I couldn’t figure out what happened, one day just “POOF!” Bad Form, hahah, I definitely think the show, could gain momentum, so quirky it reminded me of the Steve Alten book, “End of Days” Now there is a book that could make a great Mini-Series, U heard it from me 1st! Hahahaha
Really enjoyed this show; looked forward to each new episode. I feel like the network has left me hanging. I wish they would bring it back for another season.
Left a lot hanging. Could have done so much more!!
Really too bad there won’t be a second season there’s so much more could be done & so many unanswered questions. It’s such a great show. Hopefully Netflix will pick it up. I watched on Showmi but I don’t think they produce shows. Even Breaking Bad was going for cancelation after 2 seasons – Netflix picked it up & it went for 3 more & was a hit.
This is my favorite show. Can’t believe it was cancelled. Such a shame. Cleverly written with unique and even lovable characters. Is there any way to petition for a second season?
I am upset that there will be no 2nd season. Great writers and actors.
love the show. Really wish there was a second season or at least a half season to finish what they started. I know they’d do a great job of answering our questions because what they had already done in such a short season. please bring back. I started the show last night and stayed up till I couldn’t keep my eyes open hungry for more. As soon as I woke up I finished it. then decided to find out about season 2. I wasn’t too happy. maybe if you advertised it more I never saw a commercial for it then… Read more »
This was a great show and the only recent TV show that I was absolutely addicted to! I am so disappointed that it was cancelled. Now what am I going to watch?!?
It’s absolutely crazy that they canceled the show! It’s the first new show I have watched in a long time that I continued watching all season long. I was so eager for each new episode and was never disappointed. The plot was really unique and through in a lot of twists and turns. I am really disappointed. I hope against hope that they will bring it back. But, if history is any indication, since I love it, it’s gone for good. 🙁
So sad to hear this show is cancelled! It was my favorite new show! Bring it back!
So sad to lose a great show like this. You could at least have given this marvelous cast and creative writers a chance to mature and gel. Brilliance takes more than ten episodes! But no, I’m sure there’s some reality monstrosity or police procedural out there just waiting to numb our minds – because we don’t have enough of that dribble already! Show some courage and give us some of that “quality” tv you are always talking about!
