NBC has already renewed Chicago Fire (season five) and Chicago PD (season four) for the 2016-17 season. Now, the peacock network has renewed their third windy city series, Chicago Med, for a second season.
Chicago Med is set at the city’s new state-of-the-art trauma center. It revolves around the doctors, nurses, and staff members who treat the most severe trauma cases. The ensemble cast includes Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell, Brian Tee, Torrey DeVitto, Rachel DiPillo, Carl Lumbly, Julie Berman, Brennan Brown, and Marlyne Barrett.
The series debuted on November 17th to a 2.16 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.64 million viewers. The ratings dropped over the course of the next six episodes (particularly once the fall edition of The Voice concluded) but it remains the network’s most-watched scripted series (per the season averages).
Word is that there may be a fourth Chicago-based drama next season. Series creator Dick Wolf has signed a new deal with NBC and Chicago Law is already in development.
NBC also renewed Wolf’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit today, for an 18th season.
What do you think? Do you like the Chicago med TV show? Are you glad that it’s been renewed for a second season or, do you think it should have been cancelled instead?
Please keep this great medical and its crossovers all great shows and excited to watch for the newest member of the family Chicago Law well done Dick Wolf!
