History is repeating itself and the 4400 mysteries will remain unanswered. In 2007, The 4400 TV show was cancelled after four years on USA Network. Now, The CW has cancelled the 4400 reboot so it won’t even reach a second season. The final episode aired in February.
A science-fiction mystery drama series, the 4400 TV show stars Brittany Adebumola, Joseph David-Jones, Ireon Roach, TL Thompson, Jaye Ladymore, Derrick A. King, Khailah Johnson, Cory Jeacoma, Amarr, and Autumn Best. Over the last century at least 4,400 people who were overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized vanished without a trace off the face of the planet. One night, they are all returned to a location in Detroit not having aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat, and contain the story, empathetic social worker Jharrel Mateo (David-Jones) and hardened community corrections officer Keisha Taylor (Roach) are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees. The new partners clash in ideology and approach, but gradually find they have more in common than they thought as they become familiar with those under their care. These unwilling time travelers, collectively dubbed the 4400, must grapple with their impossible new reality, the fact that they’ve been returned with a few “upgrades”, and the increasing likelihood that they were brought back now for a reason they’re only beginning to understand.
Airing on Monday nights, the first season of 4400 averaged a 0.07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 370,000 viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). In the live+7 day ratings, which includes a week of delayed viewing, the season averaged a 0.10 demo and 732,000 viewers.
The CW is currently owned by CBS Entertainment Group (part of Paramount Global) and Warner Bros. Entertainment (part of Warner Bros. Discovery). Most of The CW’s programming comes from these two companies and network ratings are only a part of how they profit from the shows. In the past, The CW has been renewing most of its shows each year but, the network is currently up for sale. Because a sale will change how The CW operates, the network has significantly pared down its renewals this time around and has opted to cancel several series that likely would have been renewed in past years.
Today, The CW also dropped Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies, Naomi, and Roswell, New Mexico. The network previously cancelled Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
What do you think? Have you watched the 4400 TV show on The CW? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled and won’t return a second season?
Seriously, people… what is wrong with you to think this utter garbage was good!? This show was AWFUL. Most of the acting was amateurish at best. I’ve seen better acting in high school plays. This is the kind of trash we get when actors are chosen based on diversity quotas rather than talent. To the person or people who decided to can this THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I never saw a trailer saying they are going to reboot it, if no one knew about it how are they going to watch it I loved it and at the rate you are cancelling shows you will be lucky if I watch any other show you make
Sorry for not using my real name, because I do not want people to do identity theft with my name. I really like the reboot of 4400 as well as my friend also like it also, at the end of season 1 it look like it was continueing, so people would expect season 2 and now since their is no season 2, people are in the dark of what happen next, people can guess on what happen next, but it is not the same.
Someone woke up on the bad side of the remote.I think CW needs have its shows write a final episode for each season in case of premature cancellation.
Watch the first 1 and was canceled this too. That’s heartbreaking
I agree there needs to be some sort of closure or ending to the 4400 reboot! Not fair to us loyal watchers of this series . Basically you are saying what we watch doesn’t matter to you that decides who stays or goes . Don’t you think we all matter whether its one person that watches or millions? I really enjoyed watching this series on the 4400 ! One of the better shows on TV in the past couple of years when we all had to be inside because of Covid ! Actually should have been on one of the… Read more »
I loved this show. I hate to see it go.
Rediculous on your cancelations as this and every other show I watch on CW is canceled. Shows as this one that is an ongoing story/mystery should at the VERY least be given the opportunity to have an ending. This is Rediculous!
Agree. At least bring some closure to it.
