TV show description:
Jim (Jim Belushi) is a contractor who co-owns Ground Up Design with his chubby and good-natured brother-in-law, Andy (Larry Joe Campbell). Jim likes to strut around like a tough, macho guy but, underneath it all, he’s a pushover — especially when it comes to his gorgeous and intelligent wife, Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith).
Jim and Cheryl have very different ideas about how to run their home and on how to raise their five children; Ruby (Taylor Atelian), Gracie (Billi Bruno), Kyle (Conner Rayburn), and infant twins, Jonathan and Gordon.
Cheryl’s sister, Dana (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), is attractive, the vice president of an ad agency, and frequently puts Jim in his place. Dana has trouble holding onto partners but eventually marries Dr. Ryan Gibson (Mitch Rouse) and the two have a child together.
Episode 182 — Heaven Opposed to Hell
Dana (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) and Ryan (Mitch Rouse) return from California for a visit and announce that they’re expecting. Andy (Campbell) and Mandy (Jackie Debatin) also announce that they’re engaged. Jim couldn’t care less and then, while everyone else is congratulating the happy couples, he chokes on a shrimp puff. Everything goes white.
Jim then finds himself walking along in the clouds. He runs into Danny Michalski (Dan Aykroyd) on a motorcycle who tells Jim that they’re both dead. Jim almost gets into heaven but is stopped at the last minutes. He must first go on trial to prove that he’s worthy. God (guest Lee Majors) is the judge while Satan (guest Erik Estrada) fights to get Jim’s soul.
With Andy as his defense attorney and Dana as the prosecuting lawyer, Jim goes on trial. Through clips, we’re reminded about Jim’s character. His children (Taylor Atelian, Billi Bruno, and Conner Rayburn) testify for him, as does his wife. Unfortunately, it’s not enough. Just when it looks like all is lost, his family and friend tell God that, if he’s sent to Hell, they love Jim enough to go with him. The almighty has no choice but send him back to Earth.
Jim returns, just as Andy has successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on him and has dislodged the shrimp puff. After he tells his family and friends about his experience, they expect him to say that he’s going to change his ways.
But Jim reasons that it’s his personality that saved him so he should never change a thing. After all, “God don’t want me. The Devil don’t want me. The way I figure it, if I never change, I’ll live forever.” He tosses another shrimp puff in the air and, just as he’s about to catch it in his mouth, the screen goes black.
First aired: June 2, 2009.
There’s been no news of any planned reunions, revivals, or remakes.
great show with a perfect cast.it should be syndicated on a lot more networks.

According to Jim is one of the best shows that was on. The comedy was so good! Would love to see a come back show! Everything else is! So why not?
Please bring back according to Jim it was hilarious LOVE THE SHOW ……………you ABC!!!!!
Another great show please keep it on. We need great clean family shows.
I really hate it when you start a series then you let it run for about 2 to 5 seasons if that then POOF it’s gone. For instance Last Man Standing or According to Jim. There’s plenty more to go around on different channels. Think about us viewers ask us our opinion.
I loved this show. I hate it when you start a show then turn around and stop it after a few seasons. Just like Last Man Standing, Castle, Zoo and Resurrection…and plenty more. That’s not very nice.
Well, It’s AUG 2016 already and I don’t expect any one to be reading this comment now, but I recently finished re-watching all the seasons of “According to Jim”, & it was really funny and entertaining as always.
Wonder how is Kyle doing right now 😀 ?
please, bring back Jim … I loved the show.
I couldn’t say it better Jenny!
Bring back jim with full cast. 2013. Maybe we should boycott chanel till then.
Bring back jim its the funnyest show ever why was it canceld anyway it must have bin successfull coz its funny as
The show was great until the twins. Cheryl didn’t need any more children. She had plenty all ready. Didn’t the writers/producers think seven children was enough?
Ruby, Gracie, Kyle , Jim, Andy, Dana, Dr. Ryan Gibson
Sure only three of them were her children. But they all acted like children.
Then they add infant twins, Jonathan and Gordon to the mix. I’m surprised she didn’t run away.
JD » The actress was pregnant in real life so they had to work it into the show.
loved the show I actually went to see an eposode filmed in Burbamk California, hate too see it go.
They should of never cancelled the show, it was one of the funniest on tv and I loved it. It made me laugh every time I seen it. Even the reruns make me laugh. Bring back According to Jim….
Ahh I am sorry they ended the show too. I love a show that makes me laugh and this one did. I wish it would come back but never really heard of that happening before. I was really looking forward to the new shows with the twins in it. What a disapointment. Any who… Loved them and hope to see them all on something else soon.
