What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, Anne with an E stars Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R.H. Thomson, Dalila Bela, Corinne Koslo, Aymeric Jeff Montaz, Helen Johns, Lucas Jade Zumann, Christian Martyn, Kyla Matthews, Philip Williams, Lia Pappas-Kemps, Miranda McKeon, and Jonathan Holmes. A TV show adaptation of Lucy Maud Mongomery’s Anne of Green Gables novel series, Anne with an E is an 1890s Prince Edward Island period drama, centering on 13-year-old orphan, Anne Shirley (McNulty). For years, the bright and creative Anne suffered abuse and neglect in various orphanages and foster homes. Now, thanks to a lucky mistake, she has arrived at the home of siblings Marilla (James) and Matthew Cuthbert (Thomson), and Avonlea, P.E.I. will never be the same, again.
On August 3, 2017, Anne with an E was renewed for a second season which will debut on July 6, 2018. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Because Anne with an E is also a CBC TV show, a cancellation or renewal depends — at least in part — on its Canadian viewership. Although we don’t track the ratings in Canada, from high atop my perch, I can spot cancellations and renewals north of the 49th parallel. Subscribe for free updates on any Anne with an E cancellation or renewal news. For now, I intend to seek out some P.E.I. mussels for my supper instead, because I believe a season two renewal is quite likely.

I happened to be spending the weekend in bed with a flu or cold and watched the entire first series. I found it absolutely delightful and will anxiously await the next season. I hope that won’t be too long!
I need a second season!!!! and a third … and fourth, fifth!!!! and so one.
just saw the whole first season at once!! outstanding acting and writing,directing, production, casting!!! its outstanding and I need more Anne and Gilbert moments… there so cute
Please have more episodes of Anne with an E. It is a refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable show. Both my wife and I love it.

I loved this series. After skipping over it because of the title many times while going through Netflix, I’m so glad I decided to hit the play button. This is not a typical show that I watch so I was very surprised to find that I couldn’t stop watching it this weekend. There must be another season or 2 or 3.
Anne’s character is truly an award winning portrayal … as are all the other characters indeed. Cinematography is awesome, along with a superb musical score. This glorious display is just getting going! I was totally captivated upon first watch and got my wife hooked to catch up as we both watched( me for the 2nd go round), and now are in want and wait for seasons 2 and beyond… c’mon Netflix, don’t drop the ball !
Season 2!!!! I absolutely love the show and would like to see mire. I’m still waiting on the future of Anne and Gilbert.
The thought of “Anne with an E” being cancelled is devastating! This is an extraordinary adaptation with beautiful cinematography and superb actors. I love how the characters are fleshed out in more depth than the original “Anne of Green Gables” (I still love the original as well, though!). For example, seeing the softer side of Rachel makes her friendship with Marilla more understandable and realistic. As stated also by someone else, this is a show that spans several generations. Season 2 please!. The novel sat on the window sill in our kitchen as far back as I can remember growing up. I never read it for some reason although I was an avid reader of library books. I now know why that book was in the kitchen. As a young girl, my mother was a character like Anne. The stories she told me from her youth were few, but they were definitely Anne inspired. Anne is who she wanted to be. Her own mother (Ann) died when my mother was 16, and she took over duties in the household… Read more »

Why such a short season? Was it cancelled in the middle of a season. Good show. It should continue!

I absolutely love Anne with an e, there should be more family shows like this on the TV. I can’t wait for season 2 to be renewed, they can’t let the audience down & not finish the story.

I love this series, it is somewhat different than the original story,but really interesting. I am really really hoping it will be renewed for many more seasons. It is visually gorgeous!
