What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, APB follows billionaire engineer Gideon Reeves (Justin Kirk). The Chicago Police Department is spiraling out of control thanks to high crime, officer-involved shootings, cover-ups, corruption, and under-funding. After witnessing his best friend’s murder, Reeves resolves to change all that. He puts up millions of dollars of his own money to take charge of the troubled 13th District and reboots it as a technically innovative police force. Teaming with street-smart Detective Theresa Murphy (Natalie Martinez) and tech wiz Ada Hamilton (Caitlin Stasey), Reeves embarks on a mission to create a crime-fighting force for the 21st century. Ernie Hudson, Taylor Handley, Tamberla Perry, and Nestor Serrano also star.
Season One Ratings
The first season of APB averaged a 0.78 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.43 million viewers. Find out how this new series stacks up against the other FOX TV shows.
On May 11, 2017, APB was cancelled so there won’t be a second season. Could it be revived somehow? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
The APB TV show had a solid premiere on FOX but saw a huge drop in week two and dropped further in the weeks that have followed. I suspect that, though FOX really wants to establish new dramas, this one isn’t one of them and APB will be cancelled.
5/11 update: FOX has cancelled the APB TV show after one season. Details here.

What do you think? Did you hope that the APB TV show would be renewed for a second season? Are you upset that FOX has cancelled this series, instead?
We really liked this, disappointed it’s been cancelled
Give me a break! Nothing lasts for more than a season anymore unless it has super heros, dead people or some cheesy 20 something theme. It’s like the only people that matter are 30 and under.
It says 3.43 million viewers, so why cancel a show, that has that many viewers. It is a great show. My wife and I have younger kids, so we record it on the DVR and watch it when we can. To cancel it would be a mistake, in my opinion. Please renew the show…
With all the garbage Fox puts on tv, you’d think someone at FOX should actually watch some of these shows. IMO APB was a great show. A lot better than some of the crap they have on.
My husband and I have been catching up on APB, we love it. Have been telling all of our friends and family about it. Please renew it!!!!
Please don’t cancel this show. Loved it.
Ain’t that the truth DIANE!!! Not to mention we have brains that are larger than the size of a pea! We don’t want to watch that fake reality crap or supposedly adult entertainment, like the Simpsons. I mean really, if I wanted to be 6 again… Plus, Networks need to give a show more than a few episodes to make it. People need to be tempted, wooed, challenged, made to think or at least given some time to get a feel for the characters and the shows before they’re yanked out from under us. Why would we bother getting invested… Read more »
I saw a comment about DVR’d shows that implied they don’t count toward ratings. If the only thing that counts on the ratings boxes are shows watched live, than the ignorant “reality” shows will win every time. No one wants to watch “after the fact”. Of course, I don’t want to watch them at all, but still they need to figure out a way to level the playing field. We DVR everything we watch. So do a lot of people. Come into the new millennium people. You can’t use the same measuring tool you used to use. We don’t follow… Read more »
My husband and I loved this show and were really anticipating Season 2. So very sad that they aren’t giving it at least one season renewal.
Really liked where the show was going. For new shows it takes a minute to get its bearings. What I hate is the people who are given the ratings boxes are not the ones that watch these kinds of shows. They watch those reality shows which I am so sick of. The writers strike has been over for awhile now. Let’s get back to entertainment. Watching people screwed up lives on reality shows is not entertainment. APB is entertainment. BRING It back!!!!
Really liked the show was looking forward to second season Please renew it
Definitely have Season 2!! I Love this show, every week I look forward to watching it. Please, keep it going.
I’m confused: I read “Telly’s Take” on every Series I watch (and I watch a lot of TV) and 95% or more of his “Takes” say every show started off strong and have dropped in ratings (and many of them have “dropped sharply” or similar language). I’m just wondering what people ARE watching?! How does EVERY show have this take on it? I’m not questioning Telly’s accuracy and I like a lot of his reviews/”Take”s; however, it just seems implausible that virtually every show is a bust after a few weeks out. Is there some explanation and, again, what are… Read more »
Sadly, that’s typically what happens. I think viewers are excited to watch at the beginning but, if the show isn’t compelling enough to watch “live”, they end up watching the subsequent episodes online or via DVR. Or, they just stop watching altogether. On our status pages, we track recent/current/upcoming scripted shows (and unscripted ones on the major networks) and that’s about 750 shows. That’s a lot of choice. In addition, people are also discovering shows on Netflix or Hulu that they might have missed when they initially aired. There’s so much content and only so much time.
They don’t take inconsideration people work…DVR is all they have….
Maybe they leave it on to amuse the cat………
Definitely one of my favorites. Keep it going!
same here i started to watch APB with my dad and we both love it.
Hope it gets renewed….looked forward to it every week!
