Archer is approaching his last mission. The Wrap reports the FXX series will end after season 10.
Created by Adam Reed, the animated comedy follows Archer Sterling (H. Jon Benjamin), a former master spy who now works as a private investigator in Los Angeles. The voice cast also includes Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Lucky Yates, and Adam Reed.
On a recent episode of the Murmur podcast, Reed said he plans on ending the show after season 10. Currently, the series is heading into its eighth season:
The plan is to end Archer after season 10. I don’t know that anybody has talked about that, but that is definitely my plan to do 8, 9 and 10 — and they’re gonna be each shorter seasons of just eight episodes — and then wind it up. I was gonna end it after 8, but then I had sort of a brain explosion of a way that I could do three more seasons and really keep my interest up. So the three seasons that are coming up are gonna be pretty different from what has come before, and they’re gonna be different from each other.”
Season eight of Archer is slated to premiere in 2017.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Archer? Are sad the show is ending?
God damn you all to hell!
Oh no please don’t stop [like Adam is listening 🙁 ]… my god, the opportunity here… it’s just in the air to pluck out and write down…. Dump really wants to “make his own CIA” as of late 2017… well then PLEASE… have Mallory just abuse the snot out of his naïve ass and convince Dump to fund her organization as his private TIA (Trump Intelligence Agency – and also a medical acronym for a STROKE)…. it’s potential for a ridiculous amount of endless shenanigans. Good for a couple of years of ridiculous laughs until discovered it’s just a huge… Read more »
Please, please do not cancel Archer, I need to see how he handles his daughter turning into a teen, will him and Lana finally make it as a couple, how will he find the movie star that put him that coma. Will he finally kill Barry? There’s so many loose ends that haven’t been answered. O’Del H. Griego
If this is true (and if FX confirms it), then at least “Archer” won’t be one of these animated “floating timeline” shows that often have to overstay their welcome by airing first-run for too many seasons like “The Simpsons” and “South Park”.
Hate to see this happen, Archer is the best Animated Adult show on TV.
I love Archer. I feel like it’s an animated show, that i could watch for 20-30 years, like South Park, and The Simpsons. I will be sad to see it end.
