The ratings for The Blacklist TV show took another big hit last season, dropping nearly 40% in the same day demo ratings. Now that the drama series will have enough episodes for a good-sized syndication package, will this NBC series be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season? Stay tuned to find out.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader). He offers to help the authorities if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is his partner. The FBI then essentially works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold, Hisham Tawfiq, Amir Arison, and Mozhan Marno.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of The Blacklist averaged a 1.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.83 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
5/11 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a fifth season. Details here.
It’s an awesome show! Keep it going!
Must renew!!! LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!
Keep it going I love this show!!!! Watched season 2&3 in 1 week!!!!!
Welp, looks like the end of blacklist is a week away. Had a good run. Too bad NBC screwed it up.
Huh? Next week, Nov 10 is not the last show. The promo said Fall season finale, the last show before it breaks for ‘the holidays’. It will be back and hopefully without the Who’s my Daddy storyline. Get back to what makes the Blacklist good.
NOOoOOOOooo please DON’T cancel the show! My husband & I LOVE the blacklist! We watch it every Thursday when it comes on! We’be even binged watched it on Netflix!!! Every show we start watching that we get into or we love just up & ends on us! Pleas please please don’t cancel the show!!!! We will b devastated
Renew. Best show on TV. An earlier time slot would help.
Like so many, Blacklist is my favorite show. I was surprised to hear that its’ rating is trending down. I cannot believe it is because of the quality of the show, but, as an article indicated, the change in its time slot to Thursday. I am overseas and DVR the show, so add one more loyal viewer to the head count. I do hope the decision is not to cancel the show. It is great!
One of the best TV Shows I’ve seen. I can’t wait to see the next episode. Please don’t cancel this program. I think if it was on earlier the ratings would be higher. Keep it going please!
Finally get a decent show on tv to watch, in spite of a million commercials, please don’t cancel! The Blacklist has a lot of fans, just check social media, we love it!!!
Please renew
The ratings have been lousy since NBC moved it. I don’t know what they’re going to do. Would they renew the show if the live average is below a 1.3? How high do the Live + ratings have be to get it renewed? I guess we’ll find out.
This I need of extra best series on television right now. Please keep it. I had lost faith in network TV until I found this show. I need at least 4 more seasons…
I still love it!! Still a cut above most of the new fall shows!
Please keep producing The Blacklist! It is a rare, unexpected treat in these days of cookie cutter shows with predictable plots and actors. Mr. Spader’s depiction of Red Reddington as an unpredictable, ruthlessly loyal antihero has a depth, and breadth that is rare and frankly refreshing in the myriad of options on today’s plethora of media formats. Thank you!
I hope this show moves away from the focus on Liz and back to the original premise which made the show so good in Season 1. I found season 3 a drag and this season as well and could explain a drop in the ratings.
Too right. The back door pilot stuff for Toms spin off was annoying as well.
