During the 2016-17 television season, the second season of NBC’s Blindspot TV show was a middle-of-the-pack ratings earner. While it didn’t do poorly enough to get cancelled, after it was renewed for a third season, it was moved from Wednesdays to Fridays. Is the Peacock Network just biding time ’til it has a good sized syndication package, or can this series regain some momentum on a less competitive night? Will Blindspot be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
An action thriller, Blindspot stars Sullivan Stapleton, Jaimie Alexander, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson, and Luke Mitchell. After amnesiac “Jane Doe” (Alexander) is found in Times Square, FBI Agent Kurt Weller (Stapleton) and his team work to decipher her intricate tattoos. Despite a web of conspiracy and corruption, they begin to uncover the clues therein, as well as Jane’s identity. The third season on NBC kicks off 18 months after the events of the season two finale. Although they parted ways thanks to a series of mysterious circumstances, the team must reunite to handle a new crisis.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Blindspot averaged a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.895 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Blindspot TV series? Should this NBC TV show be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
*5/10/18 update: NBC has renewed Blindspot TV show for a fourth season. Details here.
It is a cleaver program, but poor quality sound and the actors mumble to each other especially (Weller) and they talk so fast a lot of the plot is missed.
The old actors could express themselves clearly and they could also act, Humphry Bogart was quite understandable so American actors have lost something somewhere, unfortunately not so today, so if there is still no start date for series4 people (viewers) will move on to something else.
If this program is going to end it needs a definitive storyline and an end that viewers can actually understand
I never have sound issues with this show, or have a problem hearing what they’re saying. Maybe it’s your cable/satellite connection, or tv, or you’re just getting hard of hearing?
I m french and i undeestand when they speak in english o idon t think they speak so fast
Besides plot reasons, the sound quality, especially Weller’s mumbling, was a factor for ditching this show earlier. The TV and connection to it is not an issue and our hearing is excellent. We’ve no issue with our show’s sound quality, just the Blindspot/Weller. If you can’t enunciate your words, you shouldn’t act.
Completely agree with your comment Robert Beveridge.
Cancel it so Ashley Johnson can be on Critical Role more, and voice act in more video games. This show sucks
Definitely need another series to wrap it all up to an end… it can’t, just can’t end like this, Id feel cheated if there weren’t another series with a conclusion to it all
Renew Blindspot for season 4 and beyond. I love this show.
Renew this show; we love it. Great characters and it’s different. It is worth at least another season. But stop the back and forth with Jane and Weller. We don’t need the tension and can enjoy a show with a stable relationship.
It’s not different. It’s the same every week. So much so that they hardly spend any time in an episode on the tattoos.
It goes from bad to worse. The African American actor and Hispanic lady are probably about as bad as it gets in the acting world (did they have to sleep with a Weinstein guy to get the roles?) Kurt Weller is ok as far as leading guys go and Jamie is not bad at all, but not the right vehicle for her. She seems over it and like she wants to get back to film. She has zero chemistry with Kurt. Definitely 86 this please.
completely agree with your comment and the comments about being unable to hear what they are saying. I guess that’s a type of acting technique now. Jaimie seems so bored and if you really want to see Weller enjoying himself in a role then watch Strike Back. There are just too many characters, stories, arcs, red herrings all put there to get the # of episodes promised to the network and a cliff hanger at the end to get the series renewed. There is no story anymore.
i think they should keep it i love watching it
I’ve watched show from the beginning and found it ridiculous. However, I would turn on closed captioning in order to understand the low intense whispers from Weller as he & Jane do unrealistic heroics while being deeply in love…RIDICULOUS!!!
Completely agree with your comment. I too have closed captioning on to understand what they are saying. The constant music in the background doesn’t help either.
My wife and I stopped watching it, after season 2, mainly because of Weller being barely able to mumble and grunt his lines in an understandable manner. It just became too great of a task to interpret his grunts, so in frustration, we just moved on to a different show. One where they actually speak their lines.
Couldn’t agree more with your comment.
The best thing they could do to this show is put it out to pasture. Every episode becomes more painful and ridiculous to watch. Not even a good distraction. Either change the writing or change the premise. I seriously doubt either or both could save this train wreck.
Just cancel it. It’s so dumb and unwatchable.
really hope this show gets cancelled. Poor writing, boring, poor acting, it does nothing well or even mediocre.
I hope it gets cancelled as well, so dumb and ridiculous story lines.
Why are my comments waiting moderation again? I use this site daily and have never been mean to anyone?
I’m not sure why that comment was flagged. Maybe the word “punish”? The system can sometimes be a little odd.
NBC won’t do better numbers on Friday than Blindspot can provide… I hope they don’t punish the show, it’s certainly not perfect, but it’s fun…. Bordering on ridiculous most nights, but still a lot of fun.
What about the show is “still a lot of fun”?
The Move to Friday will mean less viewers. Let us hope that the +3and +7 ratings help make up the difference. It still has better ratings than Crazy Ex.
Every show (on Broadcast TV plus 75% of cable shows) has better ratings than Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
We DVR the show but a move to Friday will show less viewers. We like the cast and show.
