While most network TV shows see declines in live viewership each year, Blue Bloods typically draws a very respectable number of viewers in its Fridays at 10pm timeslot. Last season, it had the sixth-highest viewership on CBS, outperforming numerous weekday programs. Will the series continue to do well for CBS? Will the core cast want to keep making it? Will Blue Bloods be cancelled or renewed for season 11? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A police family drama series, Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, Sami Gayle, and Vanessa Ray. The show revolves around the Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops that’s dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Patriarch Frank Reagan (Selleck) is the New York Police Commissioner and runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family. His unapologetically bold father, Henry (Cariou), previously served a stint as Chief. A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son, Danny (Wahlberg), a seasoned detective, family man and Iraq War vet. Danny sometimes uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner, Detective Maria Baez (Ramirez). Frank’s daughter, Erin (Moynahan), is a New York Assistant D.A. who is also a single parent to her teenage daughter, Nicky (Gayle). Frank’s youngest is Jamie (Estes), a Harvard Law graduate and the family’s “golden boy.” He passed on a lucrative future in law and follows in the family footsteps as a cop. Eddie Janko (Ray), Jamie’s female partner and eventual wife, keeps him on his toes.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. What do you think? Do you like the Blue Bloods TV series on CBS? Should it be cancelled or renewed for an 11th season?
*5/6/20 update: Blue Bloods has been renewed for an 11th season.
I enjoy watching this series.
I absolutely love Blue Bloods. I love the acting, the music, the stories, the passion of the Sunday dinners. One of the best stories on TV. Please do not cancel!!!
Love this show! The actors are great and the storyline is real. The family unit they share is really refreshing to see. Families dont get together for dinner anymore and they dont support each other like this. I believe it’s a great example to all of us to keep on tv! Please keep renewing this show!
This show has saved the intimacy and closeness of our marriage. Where for awhile we migrated to separate rooms, (my husband to watch sports or action films with gratuitous and extreme violence in the den, and I retreating to the bedroom to read or work,), now we actually enjoy a show we absolutely love to watch together. The acting is superb throughout. The messages and morals are admirable, and it’s a unique show in that way, isn’t it? A treasure, really, that has helped us in dealing with our family business. Blue Bloods has Social purpose. It affects lives and… Read more »
I hate to say this, but I think Blue Bloods is getting tired. I think it “jumped the shark” when Danny’s wife died, what with the unbelievable story behind her death. That was too much for me ! And the characters seem to keep getting into the same type of scenerios and arguments with each other each week. Nothing new or fresh. Sorry, was a big fan of the show, but now think that 10 is a nice round number, maybe it’s time to call it a day for Blue Bloods.
Wonderful Show started season one a month or so ago and am almost caught up to season 10. Let’s keep this show going!!!
I haven’t been 18-49 in a long time and I watch this show regularly. Please don’t cancel it.

My name’s Dayna golden and I have been watching Blue Bloods since the beginning I love everybody on that show and I’m 57 years old next month so I don’t believe it’s just 34 to 49 year olds that watch this show I’m a grandmother and I Faithfully watch it every Friday night at 9 p.m. in Texas
I love blue bloods. And I watch it every Friday night at 9 PM. And I love everyone on the show. And I’m 57 years old next month.
I would give Blue Bloods a (9) because most of the show kept my attention throughout. However, I am not happy with the entrance of demons, to see into the future. These people have spent nine years claiming to be Christians. How now are they delving into the occult. Visions come from demons, not God. It is not a God given gift. When I was growing up there was a poem about this. It goes like this. Last night I saw upon the stairs A little man that wasn’t there He wasn’t there again today Oh how I wish he’d… Read more »
Which episode are you referring to?? I watch Blue Bloods faithfully and can’t remember an episode involving demons or the occult. Season and episode number / name would be helpful. thanks!
Renew
My husband and I both enjoy Blue Bloods. We even watch the re runs. It is intelligently written
And well acted. Also stays up to date with going’s on in New York City. Would be very disappointed to see it go.
Long time since “real family” TV has been on any network. Lets keep Blue Bloods going for a long time. Sure is a lot better than most of the trash seen
on TV most days or nights.
