Jimmy Smits won multiple awards for his work on the LA Law TV series back in the 1990s. Now, he’s back on NBC in another legal drama called Bluff City Law. Will his latest show also be a big success on the peacock network? Will Bluff City Law be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A legal drama, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
11/26 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Bluff City Law TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.
PLEASE RENEW BLUFF CITY LAW
FANTASTIC PROGRAM
DO NOT LET FAR RIGHT RUIN THIS FOR PEOPLE WITH OPEN MINDS
GOOD TO SEE LAWYERS DOING POSITIVE THINGS.
We love this show. Please don’t cancel it………
Why are the ratings so low…this is a thoughtful and refreshingly intelligent show with a good cast…please keep it going!
I like this show. It has interesting topics and a good cast. Keep up the good shows. I can’t stand some of the dribble on some of the other shows. Thank you on demand. I can watch all the best
We really like Bluff City. Please order more episodes! Sad if it is cancelled. Allow following to increase,
Not bad ratings last night. Assumed a big hit (after Oct 19), given it’s a “dead” show already.
Bluff City Law should be continued
Give this show a chance – finally a show that is upbeat in dealing with the negative – we need more of this type of show. Why why why get rid of such a good and getting better program?
This is an awesome show. I look forward to it every week. Please renew.
This is a wonderful series and we look forward to a wholesome, meaningful and well acted program. I was recommending it to friends. Perhaps, the time slot is the problem. So hope one of the few good ones doesn’t get away.
This show is amazing. I can’t believe that Jimmy Smits is even better than he was on LA Law, and the supporting cast is doing a great job as well. This show needs to be renewed for those of us who appreciate great actors and subject matter that is both timely and thought provoking
I absolutely love this show. I too would hate to see it go. This show is well written. The actors chosen to play their roles are perfect for their roles. I would say this is one of the top five shows out there to watch.
It would be a shame to cancel Bluff City Law. It is an excellent series with wonderful actors and story lines. I just watched the most recent episode and was teary-eyed Jimmy Smits is a fantastic actor and he is surrounded by a very talented group of actors and great script writers. Give this show a chance and don’t cancel it!
Another great episode aired tonight. This is a great show. It is very well written. The storylines are terrific. I have always loved Jimmy Smits, but love the whole cast on Bluff City Law. I look forward to watching every Monday night. Please give it a chance and don’t cancel it.
Sorry to see it go. While I do not watch football, baseball etc., they rule. Damn the luck. I will miss this show.
It’s not done yet! I work on the show and the next two episodes will help us get Another Season or More!
