In a somewhat surprising move, the alphabet network has cut a beloved family drama after five seasons on the air. Season six of Brothers & Sisters won’t be on ABC’s fall schedule.
Brothers & Sisters debuted in 2006 and revolves around the extended Walker family of Pasadena, California. The current season features a large ensemble cast that includes Calista Flockhart, Dave Annable, Gilles Marini, Luke Macfarlane, Matthew Rhys, Patricia Wettig, Rachel Griffiths, Ron Rifkin, and Sally Field.
The family drama was nearly cancelled last year but was ultimately renewed for an abbreviated fifth season. In light of some positive ratings, ABC ordered additional episodes, bringing the season total to 22 installments. Unfortunately, those ratings didn’t last.

The numbers slowly declined over the course of the season but really seemed to take a dip in the latter part of the season, just when execs were trying to figure out if it was worth renewing. Rumors started circulating that Brothers & Sisters would be cancelled and then there was word that ABC was considering an abbreviated sixth season to wrap things up.
In the end, network execs decided there just wasn’t enough interest in the show anymore and wanted to use the post-Desperate Housewives timeslot for a new series.
As a result, last Sunday’s season finale will end up being the series finale for Brothers & Sisters. It’s a sad and unfortunate end for a once popular series.

It is very sad to hear that and disappointing. Today we can not find that many tv shows where you can learn from life, how you learn with Brothers and Sisters; great family values, support from family and friends, today’s life styles, etc. In fact this show open minds of people of things that happens every day in any family of every class.
Why? Why?…. this was the only show on Sunday nights that I had to look forward to…. and following the family and what was going to happen next was the BEST. Please change your minds and renew this series….. I love Brothers & Sisters…. Please Please bring them Back!!!

I was shocked and very disappointed when I heard that Brothers & Sisters was cancelled! This is another great show with a great cast and great storyline. ABC is axing too many of the fews shows I have to choose from. It would be nice if you’d reconsider. Get rid of some of these talk shows and reality shows, we have too many of them now and I will not watch any of them. I turn my tv off if that’s all that’s on. ABC Has Lost it’s Mind!! I am so fed up with this network!! Brothers and Sisters is one of the best shows on tv. What are you thinking. First All My Children and now this. Goodbye ABC

I read that Brothers and Sisters had 8 million viewers. Are 8 million viewers not important enough for ABC to at least move the show to another night? Shame on you for not respecting your viewers enough to try…..

B&S is the best “dramedy” I have ever seen. Something unusual: everything is about one united family with characters which hve very different personalities. Sally Field is exceptional, we know her. Very good actresses: Rachel Griffiths and Calista Flockhart. Good actor, Matthew Rys. Very good actor who became better actor theseyears: Dave Annable: very expressive actor: good face expessions. Bad actor: Balthazar Getty. Scripts in the show went from some verygood to some very bad (specialy the very last ones). Was in total a very good achievement. Sad and sorry it ends!
I am so sorry to see that show go. It was one of my favorite shows. I am tired of watching all these reality shows and just wanted to enjoy a good show about family and its ups and downs.
Brothers and Sisters is one of the few shows worth watching. There are so many reality shows and most of those are terrible. This show has heart and drama and comedy, as well as really great actors! What is wrong with the people that decide these things?
I only watch Brothers and Sisters and Desperate Housewives because there are so many BAD shows on now.

So sad!! I looked forward to it every time it was on. Maybe the ratings would not have dropped if the network aired the show every week instead of running an episode or two then nothing for an entire month. This is very disappointing!!

SOOOOOOO sad!!!! This show was a great example of the struggles families experience today. I could relate so well to this show and it was very validating! Please ABC, reconsider!!!!!!
