Angels Memorial is closing its doors. CBS has cancelled its Code Black TV show after three seasons. Creator and showrunner Michael Seitzman has already confirmed the Code Black cancellation. Although the production utilized the extraordinary measures of amputating some original series regulars (Raza Jaffrey and Bonnie Somerville) and grafting on a big name (Rob Lowe), the patient eventually succumbed to acute ratings anemia.
A CBS medical drama, Code Black stars Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzmán, Boris Kodjoe, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, William Allen Young, Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn Lind, Moon Bloodgood, and Lowe. The story unfolds at Angels Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles — home of the busiest, most notorious ER in the country. The high patient volume dwarfs the resources available to the exceptional staff — creating a condition known as Code Black.
According to Seitzman despite the cancellation, the third season should continue to air in its regular timeslot. Because he expected the there would be no season four, it seems the team wrote the season three finale to serve as a series finale. Check out what he has to say, below.
Code Black: A Look at the Ratings
The third season of Code Black, which just kicked off on April 25th, is averaging a 0.71 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.448 million viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by about 26% and 9%, respectively.
Of the 27 scripted CBS TV shows we’ve been tracking during the regular 2017-18 television season, Code Black ranks 23rd in the demo. That number only rises to 21st, when we sort by average total audience. In other words, the cancellation makes business sense.
EP Michael Seitzman Confirms Code Black Has Been Cancelled by CBS
Making sure to thank the fans, Seitzman, whose Quantico on ABC also fell prey to the Television Vulture, announced Code Black will not return for season four. Check out what he has to say about the remaining episodes and anticipating the need for a Code Back TV series finale.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Code Black TV series? If it were up to you, would it be cancelled or renewed for season four on CBS? Sound off in the comments.
Why is it that all the good shows get cancelled. I love the show Code Black
I am truly disappointed that they are canceling this show , I really loved it and hope they will reconsider
Renew it. It is one of the best shows on television. I love Rob Lowe and Marcia Gay Hardin. Some of the newer interns not so much but maybe they will work out if the show is given the chance. It is a great action and drama show.
I think it’s such a shame that this show is ending. I also think it’s a bad idea to cancel Code Black!! It is one of my favorite shows to watch on TV. It seems like all the good shows get cancelled yet they continue on with some of the worst shows ever written!! I am a huge fan of Code Black & I am truly saddened & disappointed
I hate that they are cancelling this show…my husband and I love it and watch it every week. Wish you would reconsider…good shows are getting rare
Think it is a mistake to cancel this show. All the other medical shows seemed to of been cut so why take another good one?? There has been some cast changes but still have a lot of the original ones and some news one but still a good show.
I wish the network would reconsider another season of Code Black. It is one one our favorite dramas. We are so tired of all the reality shows and canned laughter comedy shows.
I love this show. It has talented actors who are believable, great stories with a lot of heart, and plenty of action! This shouldn’t have been cancelled – just heartbreaking!
This is by far, the best medical show on TV. I am so sick of the good ones being canceled but crap shows like The Bachelor/Bachelorette continuing to air. Absolutely ridiculous!
I am just so genuinely heartbroken over this. It is the ONLY show I’ve been excited about in years. I also don’t want another reality show! Nor do I need to see any more talent shows. This talented crew of real trained actors must be too intimidating to a network. This show is exciting and entertaining without worrying about smutty sex scenes or characters that have dirty personalities. Yes other networks, PLEASE capitalize on CBS’s mistake! We’ll follow you!
I’m so sick of the shows I like being cancelled!! I love Code Black – the actors – the stories don’t cancel it. What can we do?
I love code black. It has a lot of drama and suspense. Please say it isn’t so.
Love this show! CBS needs to reconsider their decision. This is One of only two shows I watch on this network so I guess the network is so self confident that it can forget its viewers wants. Renew this show!!!
The actors are wonderful.
I love Code Black, watch it every week it’s on. Love the drama, the characters. I truly can’t believe this fine show is going away. If possible, reconsider.
