As fans know, Thomas Gibson was fired from Criminal Minds after filming a few season 12 episodes and Shemar Moore left in season 11. Meanwhile, Paget Brewster is returning, Aisha Tyler has become a series regular, and Adam Rodriguez has joined the cast. That’s a lot of upheaval in a short amount of time for this venerable CBS TV series. How will it do in the ratings in season 12? Could it be cancelled? Will there be a 13th season? Stay tuned.
Criminal Minds continues to follow the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) out of Quantico, Virginia. This season’s cast is Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Criminal Minds TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season 13 on CBS?
You just don’t get it – look at your declining ratings. NO HOTCH NO WATCH. Bring back Thomas Gibson.

It is like CSI:LV without Gil & Catherine.
The cast no longer works without Hotch. There was a balance: goofy Garcia, intellectual Reid, old wisdom Rossi, emotional JJ and totally pro Hotch. The new characters, and for me this goes back to the various extraneous women hired in recent years, just don’t have an angle or a niche that works. Of course the show lost its heartthrob also in Morgan. The chemistry was right in previous years, and I watched despite the fact that the quality of the actual stories has declined mightily in recent years. It was beginning to feel repetitive and stale. But I watched for… Read more »
It’s ok but it’s lost a lot of its interest. I don’t watch it every week like I use to. I don’t see how it could be renewed.
When they let Hotchner go it hurt the viewing power the show had because the plots revolved mainly around him. Also he lives in San Antonio as do I. The new cast is ok but I think it will not make it in the ratings. JG from SA.
The ratings are still good enough for renewal at this point(02/03/17).
I have never missed an episode. I thought when Shemar Moore left, I wouldn’t like it as much. But Adam Rodriquez fills the spot excellently. The new guy also is a good addition. Love the show. If this were real life, these characters would have a hard time dealing with the things they see and deal with. I’m anxious to see Reid back again too.
The departure of some cast members don’t bother me, since that is how things happen in real life. But this focus on personnel issues instead of the Unsub crimes is hurting the show (in my opinion). Let’s get back to hunting and learning about the bad guys and leave the family issues at home.
Please keep this series going but keep the older actors just as active as the new ones so we all stay happy.
I don’t like the new one as well as the old one. The new people don’t fit the character as well as the ones who quit or got fired. Theirs not as much action as there was before and they don’t take turns talking about a case murder like they use to just certain ones do all the talking and your replacement of the one who got fired has no personality and no action it is just all wrong I think the person who fired him it was as much fault of his as it was of the FBI director… Read more »
Bring Hotchner back too many changes or just cancel
Keep it! People get so caught up about having same characters forever but life happens. It’s a reflection of this… I believe these new characters could work if given a chance! The story line is just as good if not better as previous seasons! Keep it going CBS!! Love Criminal Minds! Bringing back Prentiss was great. Always loved her. Yes Hotch made the show previously but seriously people. Give the new cast a chance to shine also.
Only two new people joined the cast.

This series is over. If it was a horse, they would have shot it before the backstretch.
