The drama continues behind the scenes of Criminal Minds. Recently, we reported that star Thomas Gibson has been fired from season 12 of the CBS series after an on-set altercation. What we want to know is: Will you watch the new season without him?
The actor has played Special Agent Aaron Hotchner since the show began in 2005. The cast also includes Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Kirsten Vangsness.
Gibson is far from the first series regular to leave the show. Season 12 will be the first season without fan-favorite Shemar Moore, who left at the end of season 11. Recently, Moore uploaded a video on Instagram that seems to address Gibson’s firing, Zap2It reports.
In the video, Moore suggests Gibson may have had it coming:
I’ll just say this: I believe in karma. Good things happen to good people. Honest people. Hard-working people. Humble people. People who believe in basic goodness … Treat people how you expect them to treat you. Celebrate yourself and celebrate your blessings, as you should, but just know that you’re not better than anybody.”
Season 12 of Criminal Minds premieres on September 28th. The first two episodes were supposedly completed prior to Gibson’s dismissal and it’s unclear how the writers will handle his character’s departure.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Criminal Minds? Will you watch season 12 without Thomas Gibson?
He made a mistake and apologized, come on he makes the show, we all deserve a second chance!!!!!!
This was his second chance. He shoved a crew member a few years ago and went to anger management.
No I will not watch season 12 the BAU without Hotch is just not acceptable. Hotch is as important to CM as Gibbs is to NCIS. Goodbye CM.
Workplace safety is more important.
I’d still watch if they brought back Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) as the new leader.
I think Moore is more important and more of a loss than Gibson.
We need the core group of Kirsten Vangsness, Matthew Gray Gubler, Paget Brewster, AJ Cook,Joe Mantegna, and Shemar Moore.
With this core group; Thomas Gibson is not necessary.
It would also be nice to see Aisha Tyler continue, even in a guest role, and some guest appearances by Jennifer Love Hewitt as well; they were both nice additions.
I agree. I like Hotch, but I’d much rather see Prentiss or Morgan back.
Ok we get it Ria… You like a ‘Safe Workplace’ and Thomas Gibson was wrong, but can you just write your own comment instead of replying to all of the above comments? Its annoying.
You do realize you don’t have to read them…right?
How they handle this in the show is not the problem. The problem is what happen in the real life. if Hotch is only fiction, Thomas Gibson is human, real man. They missed up when they fired him with bad reasons. He make a mistake but who never make it ? So, i choice human to fiction… Thomas on CM.
But this was not his first mistake. He’s done this before and was forced into anger management classes.
I will not watch it
Of cause not. No Hotch, no CM. CBS must have been handle this in other way. Thomas Gibson did a lot for this show. He is not perfect ? Right, he is human, not a robot. But he is CM and with out him, it’s no more CM. To an argument, it take two men… Virgil Williams must have been punished too. Bye CBS, i am done with you
I won’t watch the new season and I won’t watch the premiere. I’m very fed up how CBS did handle all that. Screwed up with fans, actors and storylines – and for what? Destroying an awesome show!
Thomas Gibson aka Aaron Hotchner is the backbone of the show and one of the long time male actors on Criminals Minds. There might be other actors but none of them are that same, nobody is comparing to him. I want Thomas Gibson back on the show. I’m not watching it any more without him!
Why should’t he be let go for kicking someone? This was not the first time.
I don’t see his leaving as a big deal. There have been storylines where he was absent for awhile and I barely noticed. However, I still miss Mandy Patinkin. And I’d pay good money to have Shemar Moore back. Those where characters with heart, yet strength.
Whether I watch will depend on who is hired to lead the group. If Many was brought back, I’d watch, for sure.
I prefer shows that mix up the cast through the years, just like real life. Where in the real world do you find the same ensemble of people together for years. The same cast year in, year out gets stale. While the Gibson character was good, I welcome the change.
I’ve been a fan since day one, but I will not his repeated violent behaviour. He has been previously ordered to anger management for shoving another crew member a few years ago.
*will not condone
I will still watch I love all the people I’d like to see the turn it takes I guess it I’ll be up to how they deal with it
And the writer was suspended for threatening actors on other shows why wasn’t he fired. He started it.
I was only really watching because of Thomas Gibson whom I’ve been following since his Dharma & Greg days! So NO, will not watch again.
I was a latecomer to CM, discovering it on ION TV during the summer of 2012. But I quickly became a huge fan; I own Seasons 1-10 DVD’s. I know the show has survived many cast exits, but there is no show without Thomas Gibson. I will not be watching Season 12.
I feel that loosing either Thomas Gibson (have followed him since Darma & Greg) or Joe M. greatly effect my watching the show. I feel they are the strongest & mainstays of the show ‘ Criminal Minds.’ There is an 90% chance that I would stop watching the show if either men left.
if they think they’re going to get the same ratings as last season without replacing Thomas Gibson, they are WRONG. they better go get someone with a NAME. We’ll see what happens.
It’s a tv show. Calm down.
