While Dante would say, “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here,” we’re not, but that’s just because nobody talks like that, anymore. USA Network has cancelled its Damnation TV show after just one season of 10 episodes. That means the season one finale, episode 1.10, “God’s Body,” which aired on January 18th, will now serve as the unintentional Damnation TV series finale.
A USA Network 1930s period drama, Damnation stars Killian Scott, Logan Marshall-Green, Sarah Jones, Chasten Harmon, Melinda Page Hamilton, Christopher Heyerdahl, Joe Adler, Teach Grant, Dan Donohue, David Haysom, Arnold Pinnock, and Rohan Mead. The heartland labor drama series centers on Seth Davenport (Scott). Although he’s a labor agitator, he poses as a small town Iowa preacher. Seth soon finds himself up against professional strikebreaker Creeley Turner (Marshall-Green), with whom he shares a dark and bloody past.
Damnation: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Damnation averaged a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 682,000 viewers. Out of the 10 USA Network TV shows we’re currently tracking, Damnation ranked seventh in terms of its demo ratings and rose to sixth place in terms of total audience size. While it could have gone either way, the cancellation isn’t shocking.
Series Creator Tony Tost on the Damnation Cancellation
In addition to Deadline and Variety confirming USA has passed on picking up Damnation season two, creator Tony Tost addressed the cancellation on Twitter. Check it out.
I love what we made, and how we went about making it. I'm proud to have #DamnationTV out there for people to still find days and weeks and months and years from now. Thanks and love to all who helped and supported and watched. https://t.co/fjjUaTM0zu

Earlier this week, Tost was still holding out hope for a Damnation season two renewal.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season? Should USA Network have cancelled or renewed Damnation for a second season? Sound off in the comments.
This upsets me to no end! It was so wonderful to have something real and intelligent to watch in the midst of all this garbage television. But alas the troglodytes win the day. I sincerely hope that they take a second look at this terrible decision cause I fell in love and I’m obviously not the only one.
I just finished watching season 1 of DAMNATION on Netflix! It was so Good! I am so disappointed that the series has been cancelled! It was refreshing to watch something on TV that represented a period in time of historic importance. The acting was excellent and the story line compelling! Hats off to the Producers, Directors, Writers and Actors! I am very surprised that NETFLIX hasn’t gone to bat for this Excellent Series! What a “DAMNSHAME”!
DISAPPOINTED, UPSETTING Finished season one with my husband, went to look for season two when it was being aired and to find out it was cancelled are you kidding me. Even my older kids enjoyed this show. I think they should make a season two and three and so on. Allot of people enjoyed this show. There’s not very many older shows that are good but this series was really good and we binged watched it it was always didn’t want to stop watching it until we entered up on the last episode and saying this is it are you… Read more »

Very sad to hear the news , it was beautifully written, acted and filmed . The networks are losing a great show.
I agree with all the rest who loved this show. It was well done and kept you want you coming for more to bad for USA had something good going for them
Another good show gone. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!One of the few shows my husband and I both watch
Oh, it s really sad news. Actually I am not fun if shows but this was something – good story/ play/actors. Hope that still existing very small chance that desition about second season could change..
I find it ridiculous that it was cancelled! We have 400 reality shows, 1,000 medical shows & 10,000 cop/criminal shows. The ONE SHOW where there is a storyline that hasn’t been seen 300 times a day & THAT’S THE ONE THEY CANCEL?! …not too bright!
I watched this fabulous series from Australia and loved it; very real themes for the time. I really hope more Netflix watchers watch it and push for a Season 2.
At least have a 2 hour finale!!!!! I hate when networks give you one season, and then cancel with no finale, especially with an awesome show as this one!
I’m really disappointed the Damnation has being cancelled, it was an awesome show, nice to get away from reality crap shows, why can’t Netflix pick up this show for 2nd season, I loved all the main characters too, I want more of the brothers!! And I need to know what happened to Emilia, tho we can guess, I also liked the fact to that this show has strong woman in it,and weren’t afraid to fight for themselves in a time where there men and husbands had the final say!!! Bring back this show!!!
What a great show. Mom and I looked forward to this every week. I recommended it to everyone. I hope another channel picks it up. So much junk on TV shame on you USA network for not taking a chance on season 2.
Im so disappointed no season two, I just spent my weekend watching the entire season one and loved it, but really bummed that that’s it, so many unanswered questions.
Great effect to all that worked on this,
Just finished watching this amazing show on netflix and what were the networks thinking??? This had an intrigued storyline to it with many characters facing damnation in their own ways and the challenges they overcame please bring this great series back
