Due to low ratings, many science-fiction shows don’t last very long on network television. However, this one feels like it might be different. Will Debris be cancelled or renewed for season two on NBC? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
A science-fiction drama series, the Debris TV show stars Jonathan Tucker, Riann Steele, Norbert Leo Butz, and Scroobius Pip. The story begins as mysterious wreckage starts falling from the sky. A secretive international agency named Orbital is tasked with figuring out what the wreckage is, where it came from, and most importantly — what it can do. British MI6 operative Finola Jones (Steele) and American CIA agent Bryan Beneventi (Tucker) are partners but they have very different styles. However, they have no choice but to trust each other as they track down the debris scattered across the Western Hemisphere. Each fragment has unpredictable, powerful, and sometimes dangerous effects on the everyday people who find it. They must race against time as shadowy outside forces seek these objects for nefarious purposes.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
5/25 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Debris TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*5/28/21 update: Debris has been cancelled so, there won’t be a second season on NBC.
great show, imaginative and grounded in humanity
Love this show. Great production quality. It has a running storyline, but each episode has it’s own conclusion. It’s the new X-Files. Can’t wait for season two and beyond.
I doesn’t have a running story line, and every episode is the same.
Too slow and too much irrelevant melodrama that plays poorly into a muddled story line. The actors sound as if they are mumbling, and what is it with Tucker who is often talking in a loud whisper?
Fringe was great until it turned too weird in the last season, but Debris started out with a big yawn and now its string theory existence is quickly unraveling.
The 1st ep was pretty good and then it just got so boring. Every ep is the same old investigate the debris but nothing happens to keep the story going and the characters are mostly cardboard cutouts. I stopped watching, wish they would retool it with a new showrunner.
I watched 5 episodes, I don’t remember the details of the episodic plots, and I don’t feel connected to the characters.
they have a lot of potential in the setting, but it’s just one more gravity impacting block looking the same every week. with barely any hint of the main season arc. I don’t believe it can survive like this.
I like it reminds me of x files with a twist
i really like this show, i hope it renews
I love Si-Fi. I was bought up on it,but NBC doesn’t have a great tack record. ( Star Trek) It has promise, so far it makes me want more.
Well, it doesn’t look good (ratings). Hopefully it will stabilize at least.
I want what it is rated. Ex.:TV-MA, Pg-13, etc.
I’m addicted to SciFi shows, so I’ll keep watching, but NBC doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to shows like this.
Like millions, I’m desperate for good Sci-Fi shows. It’s a crying shame we don’t have a real Sci-Fi channel. Debris has potential. It’s unfortunate the cast is as dull as dishwater. I’ll keep watching but, doubt this sees a second season.
Yes, the worst actors i ever seen in my life. They have absolutely no personality at all. Just 2 walking dead zombies.
Debris is moving right along. I’m enjoying it. The only negative is that it’s on a Network that is known for cancelling good tv and leaving the viewers DANGLING! (With the exception of ‘Timeless’. for that closure.)
Hope a cable network grabs it if the Peacock kicks it to the curb.
Already addicted to Debris. Watching it his Peacock. I hope they don’t cancel it like they did Brave New World- one of my favorite shows of 2020. Debris has so much potential.
Loved it!!!
