What’s in store for the next season of Elementary? Recently, executive producer Rob Doherty spoke with TVLine about the CBS TV show’s upcoming sixth season.
The new season is slated to debut on CBS in early 2018. The cast includes Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Aidan Quinn, and Jon Michael Hill.
When asked about season six, TVLine’s Michael Ausiello confirmed that CBS has only ordered 13 episodes of Elementary so far. However, EP Rob Doherty says that number could change:
There’s always a chance we could [return] earlier. If we were, it stands to reason there might be additional episodes ordered. We are in ‘wait and see’ mode at the moment.” [This] could be our last season. We’re not sure yet. We want to do everything we can do to keep it from being the last season. But we’ll see where we are in a few months.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Elementary? Do you think season six will be the final season?
1/11/18 update: Season six of Elementary will debut on April 30, 2018. Details here.
Well, surprised me! Darn, I really like this show. I have always looked forward to watching each episode. I really felt that it was s popular show. To see that the next season isn’t until 2018, shocked me. Naturally I thought it would begin in the fall… This year. Please don’t cancel this show.
Thank you for saying what most fans would agree with about treatment of a really great series by CBS !
Love. That. Show. Hope. They do keep. It
I agree very strongly with all the posts-especialy mitra-here is to hoping for the best-Elementary very strongly deserves more than another 13 episodes-hope CBS will show the wisdom of continuing the series.
I hope this is not the last season, I really enjoy this show.
Its been very hard to figure out when it is going to be on.
I hope that this season it will find a more permanent time slot that doesn’t keep getting bumped by football
They have a great show and change the day and times its broadcast. Sunday at 10 p.m. has always been a death sentence for CBS shows and then executives wonder why viewership is down.
Ratings aren’t always a good indicator of a show’s popularity, and with the move to Sundays (an already WAY overcrowded night) and football overruns I’m guessing ratings were down last year. How about moving back to Thursdays, where it did very well for years? I love this show, a great cast displaying excellent acting with brilliant writing. There are many more stories to tell, so I think there’s still a lot of life left here if CBS would stop treating it like an afterthought.
I love this series I have even started the series over beginning with season 1 and a binge watch at times
I love Elementary! It is well written, intriguing, yet deep and poignant. I hope to be able to look forward to many more seasons!
Elementary is one of my favorite shows- I love the cast and the story line- I would hate to see it go the way of “Sherlock”. I’m hoping Elementary is renewed for many seasons to come!!! I agree with Davin that the move to Sunday and all of the late starts due to football effected the ratings- I hope the producers move it back to Thursday.
Great show Needs a set time slot;
This is precisely the time CBS should keep show like Elementary, an intelligent show respectful of diversity, gender equality and very supportive of those struggling with addiction. CBS could earn itself an exemplary role in educating the U.S. Public awareness in the matters mentioned above. Elementary Sherlock is an inspiration to all, especially the younger generation. Elementary is all about recovery and that is what will give a boost to those who struggle in whatever it may be. Elementary is also commercially profitable. So why on earth would CBS stop their golden hen?
I love the show elementary it’s my favorite show I hope it comes back for another season
Please renewed many more seasons as possible.
I love watching Elementary! Please not cancel it.
Ratings weren’t good last season due to the fact that is started late several times due to the late football game on CBS. CBS should never have moved it from Thursday to Sunday night. It got a last minute renewal, probably because CBS made allot of money of it. I do worry that they could cancel the show next season if it doesn’t do well.
