What’s next for The Exorcist? Recently, creator Jeremy Slater spoke with Variety about the future of the FOX TV series.
Based on the classic horror film, the drama follows two priests who team together to solve a terrifying case of demonic possession. The cast includes Ben Daniels, Alfonso Herrera, Kurt Egyiawan, Geena Davis, Alan Ruck, Brianne Howey, and Hannah Kasulka.
In the interview, Slater said he has plans for more seasons:
The idea of doing a serialized show where every single year is just another possession and next season, we’re moving one block down and a different family is having this happen to them — your eyes would glaze over so fast. I don’t know how to write that show and I don’t know who would want to watch that show. In this first year we’re giving the audience something recognizable and relatable, but hopefully by the time a few episodes have gone by, you’ll start to understand how we’re creating an engine that can run for several years.”
He revealed that he plans on having characters return for a possible second season:
It could be. The goal is not to tell an anthology story, because I don’t think this is “American Horror Story.” The characters who survive this first season and still have story left to tell, you will absolutely see them again going into Season 2. I think our two priests, Marcus and Tomas, are probably going to be the spine of the show going forward. But the idea is to aggressively tell a new story every single season.”
FOX has not announced whether The Exorcist will have a second season or not. However, the outlook is dim. So far, season one has earned an average rating of .74 in the 18-49 demo and 2.125 million viewers.
What do you think? Are you watching The Exorcist?
Yes! I am watching! I love it! Please create another season of The Exorcist…
We LOVE the show. Maybe there’s not a BIG audience, but it’s definitely got the makings to reach CULT status! RENEW IT!!!
PLEEEAAASSSSEEE DO NOT cancel this series. You CANNOT leave the ones who do watch hanging like that!!!!! Reagan just killed her Mom…..HELLLLOOOOOO. The suspense is KILLING me!!!!!!!!
I seen that but that’s a horrible spoiler to blast out there what are you thinking
There needs to be more of The Exorcist. You cannot end it like this on season 1 and not have a season 2 or 3. Too good!
Love this show!!! I was leery as the movie is my all time favorite but the writing, the telling of the story and the characters are great!! My only suggestion is move it to a different night. Too many people in the 18-49 demographic aren’t home to watch it on Fridays.
Great series! Please, continue The Exorcist.
I really like this show, parts of the show are scary and other parts show the true struggle with the priests, the parents, and the family dealing with the possession. However if fox wishes to cancel it (as they do with almost all the new shows) I will hold off on watching.
I know it may sound cheesy, but I wish there would be a Beetlejuice reference for Gina Davis. C’mon, demons, possessions, haunting the scene would write itself.
Please don’t cancel this show. I love this show and it deserves a chance.
Please don’t cancel this, I love it so much, it has the feel of the film to it.
Love this series!!! Please don’t cancel it!!!
First, I want to say that this show grabs your attention and keeps it. It is truly a first rate sequal – adaptation of the original Exorcist. The writing is excellent! and the cast is first rate! Fox needs to move this show from Friday night to either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. I would guarantee that this show would get much higher ratings if moved to either one of these days. Friday is a bad time slot especially at 9:00 FOX – please give the go ahead and give it a second season at a different day!
It would serve well with Scream Queens or Lucifer. Scare viewers than make them laugh.
Love this show!!!
scarry good. keep it coming FOC
I love this show, i look forward to watching it as much as The Walking Dead every week !! Please FOX do not cancel the show !
this is the best show on tv since Breaking Bad! Please fox, renew this show!
