A staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule, ratings for Ghost Whisperer have dropped quite a bit over the season. Last week, the network surprised many viewers by cancelling the TV show after five seasons. The blow was softened when it was learned that the series might get a second chance on ABC. The alphabet network has now apparently passed.
Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer began in September 2005 and ran for 107 episodes. The series’ regular cast has also included David Conrad, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, Aisha Tyler, and Jay Mohr.
Things had been looking positive for the series to continue and some outlets actually had even reported that the show had been picked up. Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out.
We may never know the details but Ghost Whisperer executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander issued a statement that said, “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”
While it looks like Heroes and Law & Order will get some closure, there’s been no word on any plans to go back into production and wrap up Ghost Whisperer.

Wow noway!! I cant believe its over! I am so upset and I know my friends and nephew will b 2! I just recently had heard about the show. I heard about it this last season. I loved the show so much when I first wached I went back 2 the first episode and wached everyone til I got caught up. I watched atleast 3 episodes a day. It was that interesting. This is un believeable especially to end it like that just hanging. It was getting even more interesting.

This was my fav show of all time and alot of my friends also tuned in.Why don’t you finish with Jim and Family all leaving town because he knows his Wife is in danger and maybe now things and starting to happen to there son

WHAT??? This was my favorite show EVER!! The only show that I watched on a regular basis. The only show that I actually made sure I watch or at least DVR’d it!! Not to mention this was my date night show 🙁 A totally different kind of show that has an awesome cast!!!! What a mistake!!!! So many of my friends say it’s their favorite show as well. I hope that CBS is able to create a show smilar to or as great as this show was. If they don’t.. guess I’ll be forced to tune to another channel.
Ghost Whisper was the high light of the week for me. Now on Friday nights my TV won’t even be turn on.
I can’t tell you what this means to me not having this show. Everyone was great…
