A staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule, ratings for Ghost Whisperer have dropped quite a bit over the season. Last week, the network surprised many viewers by cancelling the TV show after five seasons. The blow was softened when it was learned that the series might get a second chance on ABC. The alphabet network has now apparently passed.
Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer began in September 2005 and ran for 107 episodes. The series’ regular cast has also included David Conrad, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, Aisha Tyler, and Jay Mohr.
Things had been looking positive for the series to continue and some outlets actually had even reported that the show had been picked up. Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out.
We may never know the details but Ghost Whisperer executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander issued a statement that said, “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”
While it looks like Heroes and Law & Order will get some closure, there’s been no word on any plans to go back into production and wrap up Ghost Whisperer.

My girls and me are very upset with the cancellation of Ghost Whisperer. We so looked forward to either a finale or more episodes. To cancel the storyline with Jim and Melinda left a bad taste for those of us that have watched them for the last several years. We are still hoping for a good ending or even better more episodes. They may find that returning to the special love affair between Jim and Melinda along with the ghost story would increase their ratings.

Please bring Ghost Whisperer back! I love the show so much and so do my four children. They watch it with me all the time and we have never missed an episode. We are ardent fans and we are all the way across the world. We are from Malaysia. The series is well accepted here and we hope that CBS or ABC revive the show again with our loved actors and actresses. Thank you so much for this lovely series and we want to see more of it and the people in it.

My entire family watches Ghost Whisperer regularly as well as Medium. We were shocked and dismayed to find that they decided to cancel Gost Whisperer. My adult daughters want to start a petition and sign any already circulating! I really hope they reverse their decision and place it in any time slot available. What a bummer!
So sad! So mad! The best show ever! Iwill never watch tv again because of this. I’ve never seen any show better. I have watched it from the beginning. I am in tears. I haven’t missed one yet! I enjoy seeing good tv, and this was a good basis of how we are to be…service to others unselfishly-giving of our talents and our gifts for the good of all…this is what this show was…and when things are just left unsaid undone no conclusion that is the worst in tvland-you get wrapped up and then they go and pull the plug-all about the dollar I guess….I have seen shows that should be off the air but for some reason they continue.
I cantt believe that season 5 is the last of ghost whisperer…i watch it on living everyday and always look forward to the next episode of season 5. I really hope the people see sense and continue Melindas story!

i was shoked since the show was doing so well and then it just ended. i want to see more of all of the characters and i hope there is some way of putting it back on the air. i hate when good series are cancelled.
