A staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule, ratings for Ghost Whisperer have dropped quite a bit over the season. Last week, the network surprised many viewers by cancelling the TV show after five seasons. The blow was softened when it was learned that the series might get a second chance on ABC. The alphabet network has now apparently passed.
Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer began in September 2005 and ran for 107 episodes. The series’ regular cast has also included David Conrad, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim, Aisha Tyler, and Jay Mohr.
Things had been looking positive for the series to continue and some outlets actually had even reported that the show had been picked up. Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out.
We may never know the details but Ghost Whisperer executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander issued a statement that said, “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”
While it looks like Heroes and Law & Order will get some closure, there’s been no word on any plans to go back into production and wrap up Ghost Whisperer.

i cant beleive that they are cancelling this show. its bad enough they cancel without a trace , jerico. ghost whisper was a very good program! CBS you are going downhill!!!!
Please bring this show back. It is a good show that makes you think. I cannot believe ratings were down. Everyone I know watches this great show.

PUT IT BACK!!! I just started watching the repeats and was looking forward to the new season. Its such a touching show. There is so much crap on tv and you cancel Ghost Whisperer… What is America coming to..argh!
you know what tania why don’t we actually try to come together on site of course to get all the resources to actually convince them to bring back ghost whisperer i mean we have 218 comment on bring back that show and maybe even more on the other sites that i haven’t look at yet
please please please. for the love of god please for a year my friend keeps telling me to watch that show and i finally watch one of the episode and got hooked. i love talking to my friends about how funny or sad it was. I have to know what happened to sam did he even remember to love her or even remember his past life? i absolutely agree with one of the woman it absolutely garbage shows that they put on now. i just want that show back.
Ohhhh this is absolutely horrible and unjust; this is the ONLY good show on TV that I have looked forward to in YEARS … I don’t take time in my life to relax; three kids, four horses, five dogs and a domestic/wildlife rescue have me extremely busy with no time for myself. By the end of the day, I am done with no drive ro energy to do anything but veg infront on the TV watching mindless shows … until Ghost Whisperer.
This is awful. That was MY ‘me time’ … my ONLY me time. It was worth my time.
I completely agree! It’s not fair! I don’t have the resources to print everyone of these comments out and mail it to the network. I don’t even think they read it. So us venting is doing nothing.
i’m very shocked and hurt that the show got cancelled! i feel like i lost a best friend. it showed us a different part of death and life. it inspired me to be a better human being and be more compassionate towards these subjects. i didn’t agree with the whole death of Jim and it felt odd with Aiden in the story but it was still a great story line. we need and deserve an ending……close a chapter with them! i will feel lost and always will wonder what life would’ve been for them. My friends and i love ghost whisperer and watch it without fail every week! I would be so sad to c it go. Especially if they just stop it mid season without a decent ending, that would out of order to all the chost whisperer fans! Sort it out CBS!

why would you do this CBS??? this was an awesome show. i loved to watch is on friday nights when there was nothing on! Please reconsider. it will be a shame if you dont bring back ghost whisperer. I would really like to see the show continue. I have found it to be very touching, and have learned a great deal about genuine human relationships through the telling of this captivating storyline. The information has been very thoughfully and simply conveyed through the development of the characters and their relationships and life trials. Please bring Ghost Whisperer back!! For the life of me I can’t understand why all of the great shows are cancelled while garbage tv like all of the ridiculous reality shows (Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, The Hills) can have years of wasting space on the tv schedule!! Ghost Whisperer was a family show – 1 that my entire family enjoyed. Please Please Please save us from garbage tv & give us back Ghost Whisperer!!!
