What’s your diagnosis for first season of The Good Doctor TV show on ABC? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like The Good Doctor is cancelled or renewed for a second season. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. An ABC medical drama, The Good Doctor stars Freddie Highmore, Antonia Thomas, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Hill Harper, Tamlyn Tomita, and Richard Schiff. The show centers on Dr. Shaun Murphy (Highmore), a new surgical resident with autism and savant syndrome. His incredible memory and keen ability to perceive spatial relations inform Shaun’s gifted comprehension of his patients. Meanwhile, his autism can hinder his ability to communicate with others. With only the help of his advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Schiff), Shaun must challenge the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital’s board and medical staff, in order to do his job and save lives.

My son has Aspergers. I love watching a show that has a main character who is like my son. He is only 9, but I have always told him he can do ANYTHING he wants in life, not to let others try, and stop him.

As a mother to 2 autistic sons, what I thought was going to be an awful series turned out to be me basically crying, laughing, crying and laughing some more!!/
It has even given me hope for my sons future!!!

Love this show – so glad they finally have a show similar to House – we missed house and love The Good Doctor – I can’t imagine this show being cancelled – please renew for a few more seasons!
The writing on The Good Doctor has improved so much!!!! Still needs help with special effects. Writing is so much better.
We love this show. The Brave and this one are two of the best new shows….too bad they are on at the same time. I follow TGD on “ON Demand”. Freddie High more is an up-and-coming actor. I thoroughly enjoyed him as Norman Bates in Bates Motel series.

This is my top favorite show of this 2017-2018 season – just the best (in spite of the fact that I’m an X-Files die hard!)! I love the subjects tackled, the intelligent scripts, the actors’ play – Highmore, what a wonderful interpretation, andthat of all those that evolve around him. His learning the distinction between a parenting and friendly relationship this week was truly exceptional. I’m looking forward to learning what he’s going to learn/experience next.
Definitely want this show on air for many more seasons to come..brilliant, with a brilliant cast..
This is the first show in YEARS that I actually keep track of when out comes on and what nights! If I can’t watch it, I record it, but I’d rather watch it with my family. I love how real Shawn is. And watching his mind work. I don’t think people think that an austic person can see the things he does. I know they all don’t remember things the same, but for this show, its amazing! Thank you for starring the perfect cast. Hope there’s many many more years to come and grow in this show!

Good television is rare these days. This being said The Good Doctor is exceptional! Great cast, relevent story lines, fabulously well written, and a pleasure to watch.
