The Hawaii Five-0 TV show’s ratings declined for several years in a row. In its seventh season though, the CBS reboot basically maintained its demo rating average, and its total viewership grew. With the departures of stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, as well as Masi Oka, will the ratings increase further, or will they sink as a result of the losses? Is this TV series nearing its end, anyhow? Alex O’Loughlin has indicated this eighth season may be his last. Will Hawaii Five-0 be cancelled or renewed for season nine? Stay tuned.
A reimagining of the original Hawaii Five-0, this CBS police procedural stars Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath, Beulah Koale, Jorge Garcia, Chi McBride, Taylor Wily, Dennis Chun, and Kimee Balmilero. The action revolves around Detective Steve McGarrett (O’Loughlin) and his elite state police task force. Together, they fight crime in the 50th state.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The seventh season of Hawaii Five-0 averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.247 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Hawaii Five-0 TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for season nine on CBS?
4/18/18 update: CBS has renewed Hawaii Five-0 for a ninth season for the 2018-19 network broadcast season. Details here.

i loved the old Hawaii 5-0. i like this version. if Alex wants to leave because it’s too hard on him, let him. let the show just end while it’s still good. don’t push it.
I have enjoyed Hawaii Five-O since 2010. Yes, I enjoyed Daniel and Grace and do miss their characters, however, in the end it was their choice to leave the show. I like some of the new characters and will continue to watch the show.
We have watched Hawaii Five-O since it’s inception and especially would miss it’s end. Yes, the cast has changed and Kono and Chin have left. However the show, stories and scenery are great. Also we still like the “comrademy” and the “emotions” between the characters as written over the years. We don’t miss a show. Tell Alex to not to pull the plug.
