The Hawaii Five-0 TV show’s ratings declined for several years in a row. In its seventh season though, the CBS reboot basically maintained its demo rating average, and its total viewership grew. With the departures of stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, as well as Masi Oka, will the ratings increase further, or will they sink as a result of the losses? Is this TV series nearing its end, anyhow? Alex O’Loughlin has indicated this eighth season may be his last. Will Hawaii Five-0 be cancelled or renewed for season nine? Stay tuned.
A reimagining of the original Hawaii Five-0, this CBS police procedural stars Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath, Beulah Koale, Jorge Garcia, Chi McBride, Taylor Wily, Dennis Chun, and Kimee Balmilero. The action revolves around Detective Steve McGarrett (O’Loughlin) and his elite state police task force. Together, they fight crime in the 50th state.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The seventh season of Hawaii Five-0 averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.247 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Hawaii Five-0 TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for season nine on CBS?
4/18/18 update: CBS has renewed Hawaii Five-0 for a ninth season for the 2018-19 network broadcast season. Details here.
It is a great show but the constant petty arguing between McGarett and Williams began to drive me away. I was also very disappointed that Kono and Chin had left, and with reason when the producers thought they were not worth as much as McGarett and Williams. I always considered all of the regulars to be equals on the show. Not to take anything away from their replacements. I wonder if the writers were running out of good story ideas that they had McGarett and Williams acting like little girls and assuming that the viewers would appreciate it. Wrong! As… Read more »
I hope the producers of this show will end it properly, maybe bringing back Kono and Chin for a couple of the last episodes. Viewers have been so often disappointed by abrupt endings. The Hawaii 5-0 community has not deserved that.
Should Hawaii 5-0 end, I hope the producers have the decency to end it correctly with a real closure.. Maybe they can reunite Kono and Chin for the last couple of episodes.
The show was a lot better with Kono and chin . I will be sad if the series ends. Please bring them back and get rid of the two new people that are on there in their place
Show would be 900% better without Scott Cann. His bickering angers me greatly
We never miss an episode, keep them coming and bring Kono back please
Hope the show is renewed. The new cast is great not to mention the beautiful setting, and the banter between Alex and James Caan is priceless. Nothing else compares to this show. Keep it going!
The repetitive banter is childish and the same over and over again. The episodes are better without Danny. He misses quite a few episodes anyway. Sometimes they comment that he is on the mainland and other times they do not even reference his absence. Is Scott (not James, that’s his father) Caan on his way out?
I love the show. I’ve seen every episode to date, but think it should end. If it is going to end, and it will at some point, I would like to see it end on a high note. I just don’t want it to linger until no one hardly watches and ratings bottom out then cancel. The show is too awesome let that happen. Regardless of how and when it ends, I will miss it.
one of the best series dont cancel this show and Meaghan Rath is so muchh better than Grace Park i remember Meaghan Rath in the movie Cyberbully and just thought she is a great actress and she is excellent in Hawaii Five-O
I love Hawaii five o I hope Alex o loughin plays commander Steve macgrett he brilliant actor
Love the show. Please keep it.
Please renew it! I watch every one several times! Great shows
When watching TV shows that I’ve recorded on my DVR I usually wait until I have at least two episodes recorded then I watch a double feature of the series. For the ratings people to stress importance on how soon you watch the show on my DVR isn’t fair, if they know that I’ve watched the show it shouldn’t matter when I watched it as long as I did. I hope the show continues and goes as long as 11 seasons like the original.
Love this show and hope there will be a season 9
Story lines getting old and dated. Definitely needs new something.
