What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Indian Detective stars Russell Peters, Mishqah Parthiephal, Christina Cole, Scott Cavalheiro, Anupam Kher, Hazma Haq, and William Shatner. The mystery comedy-drama centers on Constable Doug D’Mello (Peters), a Toronto police officer who can’t get out of his own way, in his quest to make detective. When a big case fizzles out, Doug visits his father Stanley (Kher) in Mumbai. There, he gets caught up in a murder investigation which leads him straight into the sights of a lethal criminal — one with ties back to Toronto.

Telly’s Take
Because this TV show airs on CTV in Canada, and streams on Netflix in the US, I can’t use the Nielsen ratings to predict whether they’ll cancel or renew The Indian Detective for season two. In addition, this is one of those shows that could end up as a mini-series. While I’m always up for Indian food, I don’t have a strong feeling either way about a second-season pickup. For now, I’ll keep an eye on the trades and update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free alerts on The Indian Detective cancellation or renewal news.

What do you think? Were you hoping The Indian Detective TV show would be renewed for a second season? Are you sorry that Netflix cancelled this TV series instead?
I LOVE this show. It’s smart and funny. The smart people aren’t always white and the white people aren’t always the good guys. In other words it’s refreshing. I want to know what happens with Doug and Preea. What does the William Shatner character have up his sleeve? Yes William Shatner is a bad guy. Please give us season 2.
I loved the show hoping for another season
My wife and I loved the show. We are hoping for a second series.
Would love a season 2 of The Indian Detective.
Loved the first series – hope they make another.
Please, please renew this series! The Indian Detective is like a breath of fresh air amidst all the other run-of-the-mill cop buddy shows. Please don’t cancel this show!!!
Want it renewed. Fun and funny.
Pleeeease add a season 2 of the Indian Detective. My family and I loved it so much. All the cast was great, but the Dad was priceless
I Love, Love, Love the Indian detective. Please bring it back for at least another year or 5.
Loved this first series. My husband and I really, really enjoyed it. It made a refreshing changed from the normal stuff.
Very enjoyable 1st season of The Indian Detective. Please encourage the powers that be to go forward with Season 2. Unfortunate that a new show was put up against Big Bang. I would venture to say it’s better than Big Bang. I’m sorry more people didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy it during it’s debut. I’m thankful for Netflux for making it available in the States so I could discover it. More, please.
We really enjoyed The Indian Detective season 1. Really do hope they bring Russell Peters and his diversified cast back with season 2, definitely thought it was good enough to warrant another season. It’s ratings flopped on CTV because no one watches “TV” anymore, they are all streaming Netflix now…just how we watched this season… on Netflix!

I really enjoyed this show and hope they create more episodes !!! Please renew for a season 2 !!!!!
My husband and I just binge watched Season 1 and really enjoyed it! Lots of humor, interesting character development, realistic and sad filming of poverty in India.
I found that sad too. Then I learned that those scenes were actually filmed in South Africa.
Would love a season 2 of The Indian Detective.
