TV show description:
Based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, the Instinct TV show is a crime thriller from creator Michael Rauch. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is enjoying a peaceful interlude as a university professor and author, when his old life beckons for him to return.
Reinhart is teaching psychopathic behavior when NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) seeks his help in catching a serial killer. It seems the murderer is using the professor’s first book as his training manual.
Although Dylan has grown accustomed to his student’s enthusiasm and adoration, Detective Needham isn’t one to take “No,” for an answer. He agrees to leave his comfortable retirement behind, in order to work this compelling case.
Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), is every bit as bright as the professor and excels at getting the goods on anyone he targets. Meanwhile, Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal) is happy to see her sharpest detective accept help on any case. Lizzie has refused to partner with anyone, since a tragedy occurred, a year ago.
Although working the case gives Dylan a new sense of purpose and vitality, his husband, Andy (Ings), worries his spouse has forsaken their agreement to permanently leave his past in the past. While things are bumpy between Dylan and Lizzie at the outset, they soon learn that together, they make one heck of a team.

A gruesome discovery in a city pond leads Dylan and Lizzie to investigate a young man’s murder, while Andy rescues one of Dylan’s students from a legal bind.

Love this show, actors all great. Very sad to see it go. What’s wrong with CBS, they keep the wrong shows. No shows on weekend schedule for big networks last, no matter how good they are. So disappointed, yet again.

Cannot believe you would cancel this show? CBS is famous for this. This is a good show …probably put another reality show or game show in its place!!
Instinct is one of the most interesting shows on TV. Why would you cancel this and leave so many silly shows on. This show had substance and Alan Cumming was great in it. I hesitate to get involved in any new shows because within a season or two they are cancelled. Please bring it back. How many talk shows, games shows and reality shows do we need?

I love this show….truly enjoyed the characters…..not enough good shows on TV if you don’t do streaming……..should be brought back………
I am surprised this show was cancelled. Not many good shows on tv any more. It seems when a good show finally comes on, it gets cancelled. I don’t know who makes these decisions, but they certainly don’t agree with mine.
This should definitely have been renewed for a 3rd season. Loved the characters. Had drama and comedy. Will miss it a lot!!
This was the best show on all summer CBS seems to be making this a habit of canceling great shows. There are very few shows they have left on their network worth watching. Too bad they don’t listen to the viewers what a disappointment!
This show should have NOT been canceled. Alan Cummings is a great actor and his talents deserve to be showcased. The sillly shows on CBS get renewed while interesting shows get canceled.
It seems the smart shows are all getting cancelled. Great stories and it doesn’t get any better than Alan Cumming in NYC with the NYPD detectives.
I’m truly disappointed to lose something so superior to most network summer fare.
We really enjoyed the show and wish that it had not been canceled.
