TV show description:
Based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, the Instinct TV show is a crime thriller from creator Michael Rauch. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is enjoying a peaceful interlude as a university professor and author, when his old life beckons for him to return.
Reinhart is teaching psychopathic behavior when NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) seeks his help in catching a serial killer. It seems the murderer is using the professor’s first book as his training manual.
Although Dylan has grown accustomed to his student’s enthusiasm and adoration, Detective Needham isn’t one to take “No,” for an answer. He agrees to leave his comfortable retirement behind, in order to work this compelling case.
Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), is every bit as bright as the professor and excels at getting the goods on anyone he targets. Meanwhile, Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal) is happy to see her sharpest detective accept help on any case. Lizzie has refused to partner with anyone, since a tragedy occurred, a year ago.
Although working the case gives Dylan a new sense of purpose and vitality, his husband, Andy (Ings), worries his spouse has forsaken their agreement to permanently leave his past in the past. While things are bumpy between Dylan and Lizzie at the outset, they soon learn that together, they make one heck of a team.

A gruesome discovery in a city pond leads Dylan and Lizzie to investigate a young man’s murder, while Andy rescues one of Dylan’s students from a legal bind.

So sad. Finally a show that could rival Elementary, and they cut it.
Why do the good shows get canceled? This show was fantastic. Hopefully another station will pick it up .
Why are they cancelling a show that was worth watching? You would think with all the trash they have to pick on to cancel they would choose a smart, interesting show. I have no idea who decides what shows are cancelled but that individual should be replaced.
Of course it was cancelled it was SMART and different. Not enough people with brains anymore everyone just wants STUPID tv.

Instinct is one of the best shows on CBS’s program offerings . I cannot understand canceling a good drama like Instinct, and I am extremely disappointed with their decision. I hope they reconsider this decision. To lose programs such as Elementary and Instinct in the same season leaves a hole in their programming that will not be easily filled

This was a great show. Should have been renewed. Will probably be replaced by something stupid.
I am so sad to see this show go. It had great actors and some really intelligent and humorous dialog. Does all TV content need to be dumbed down and/or smarmy to make a go of it today? CBS I thought you were the last bastion of quality programming for adults.
So disappointed this show of quality actors, humour and storylines is cancelled! This is sad as they have not been given enough time to built a fan base with more seasons or repeats.

I agree. They will probably fill the slot with another dumb reality show. I can’t stand all of the stupid programming that fills network television today.
