TV show description:
Based on the James Patterson novel, Murder Games, the Instinct TV show is a crime thriller from creator Michael Rauch. The drama centers on Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Cumming), a former CIA operative who is enjoying a peaceful interlude as a university professor and author, when his old life beckons for him to return.
Reinhart is teaching psychopathic behavior when NYPD Detective Lizzie Needham (Novakovic) seeks his help in catching a serial killer. It seems the murderer is using the professor’s first book as his training manual.
Although Dylan has grown accustomed to his student’s enthusiasm and adoration, Detective Needham isn’t one to take “No,” for an answer. He agrees to leave his comfortable retirement behind, in order to work this compelling case.
Dylan’s old CIA colleague, Julian Cousins (Andrews), is every bit as bright as the professor and excels at getting the goods on anyone he targets. Meanwhile, Lt. Jasmine Gooden (Leal) is happy to see her sharpest detective accept help on any case. Lizzie has refused to partner with anyone, since a tragedy occurred, a year ago.
Although working the case gives Dylan a new sense of purpose and vitality, his husband, Andy (Ings), worries his spouse has forsaken their agreement to permanently leave his past in the past. While things are bumpy between Dylan and Lizzie at the outset, they soon learn that together, they make one heck of a team.
Series Finale:
Episode #24 — Grey Matter
A gruesome discovery in a city pond leads Dylan and Lizzie to investigate a young man’s murder, while Andy rescues one of Dylan’s students from a legal bind.
First aired: August 25, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Instinct TV series? Should this CBS TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I love intelligent crime chows with a side of the human comedy. PLEASE do not rob the thinking public of shows that speak to both sides of our brains.
I loved this show. Disappointed it is cancelled. Maybe Netflix will pick it up…………
My husband and I enjoy this show. Don’t understand cancellation!
Thoroughly enjoyed the show and was surprised at the cancellation. Unfortunately, the night of the finale also brought a blackout from our carrier station, so I will never be able to properly say goodbye to characters I liked and the sharp wit that they exchanged.
This is insane of CBS. This show is good, intelligent and highly entertaining. PleaseCBS get rid of some of the garbage like all those reality shows, not this one
My wife and I love the characters, the dialogue is smart, actors are engaging, we are really confused as to why CBS cancelled the series. You can tell it was unexpected, the last episode left a lot hanging….VERY disappointed!!!! BAD decision, hope another, smarter network picks it up.
Instinct was a quirky show but was entertaining. The cast was very believable. Bring it back
Finally found a show worth watching that wasn’t a reality show. Had a great cast, suspense, comedy and much more. The cast was terrific and played great off of each other. Please don’t cancel this show. It gives us “grey heads” something to look forward to on TV instead of playing make believe.
Once again a great show is cancelled. I am so disappointed. CBS shame on you.
I liked this show. Much better than the reality fare being broadcast
☹️ Looked forward to every episode. The characters were unique and created interesting dynamics. And what happens to Julian with “Pasternak”??!
While I wasn’t sure what to make of this series when it first started last year, I found myself being drawn in and wanting to know what happens next. I think the series should be allowed to continue with the new story line. Definitely should not have been cancelled.
so sorry to see it go when there are so many other crappy shows on that are just plain stupid, such as reality shows like naked and afraid, other trivial ‘dorm type’ shows. Get real CBS.
this great show was canceled and junk like Bachelor and Big Brother are kept? Somebody is screwed up.
Totally agree
Come On CBS- You left to many unanswered issues. Sad to see the show go!!!!!!
