TV show description:
This dramedy revolves around a driven 23-year-old woman who’s studying to become a teacher, nursing a dream to be a writer, and supporting herself with a job at a hot new Miami hotel. Her world is turned upside down when she becomes pregnant — without ever having sex.
When Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) was a young girl, her devout grandmother Alba (Ivonne Coll) convinced her of two things — telenovelas are the highest form of entertainment, and women must protect their virginity at all costs. Jane was also raised by her sexy, young-at-heart mother, Xiomara (Andrea Navedo).
Although she is determined not to make the same mistake her mother “Xo” made – becoming an unwed mother at 16 – Jane could not be closer to the two wonderful women who have shaped her life. They are very different people but both women consider Jane the center of their universe and love the grounded, compassionate and ambitious young woman she has become.
Despite the conflicting influences of her mother and grandmother, Jane has managed to find a wonderful fiancé — a handsome, hard-working detective named Michael (Brett Dier). He loves her enough to accept her detailed timeline for their future together and even her insistence on “saving herself” until they’re married.
All of Jane’s meticulous life plans are turned upside down, however, when she sees her doctor for a routine check-up and is accidentally artificially inseminated with a specimen meant for the patient in the next room. Unbeknownst to her, the specimen belongs to Rafael (Justin Baldoni), a reformed playboy and cancer survivor, who is not only the new owner of the hotel where Jane works but also a former summer crush.
A few weeks later, unsuspecting Jane is faced with the most important decisions of her life. Will she continue with the pregnancy? How can she explain the situation to her fiancé and family? And what should she do about the wishes of the biological father, Rafael, and his scheming wife Petra (Yael Grobglas)?
At the same time, Jane’s mother Xo is facing a life-changing decision of her own: after years of letting Jane and Alba believe she didn’t know the identity of Jane’s father, the time has come to admit the truth – Jane’s father is Xo’s former boyfriend Rogelio (Jaime Camil). Making the situation even more surreal, Rogelio is now a huge telenovela star, and he definitely wants to meet his unsuspecting daughter.
Though she’s always tried to be the responsible good girl who does the right thing, Jane’s normally quiet life has suddenly become as dramatic, complicated and unpredictable as the telenovelas she has always loved.
Episode #100 — Chapter One Hundred
With Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) finally getting ready for their big day, Rafael’s desire to help Jane’s writing dream lands him in trouble. Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil) must tell the family about their decision and not everyone takes it well. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) struggles with her emotions. Ivonne Coll also stars.
First aired: July 31, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like the Jane the Virgin TV show? Do you think it should have ended or been renewed for a sixth season?
Please reconsider Season 6 or at least on Netflix if not on CW. Love Jane the virgin show.
I love this show. I find it refreshing and intriguing at the same time. I realize the actors are getting older but I enjoy the show and the interaction of the families.
I am so bummed it was canceled. I loved the show

Please don’t cancel the show I love this show
Absolutely love this show….please do not cancel it.
I think it is a great show and should be renewed for another season. It is different and a good comedy
Owen is the 4th season going to air on television ?
This show surprised me. Good acting. Unanticipated plot twists in every episode. Probably near it’s end without some kind of unanticipated theme change or character development. Great concept with announcer added additional dimension. Would love one more year but actors are getting older and characters would need to reflect that.
Jane the Virgin is the best show ever and should definitely be renewed for a 6th season!!!!
brilliant
I really enjoy JANE THE VIRGIN AND HATE THE IDEA OF IT ENDING, The last I saw, Michael was back from the dead, we have to know what happened, please don’t cancel it. My daughter an I watch and discuss it after each episode, it’s so different from the gory stuff, it’s funny, intriguing and
I absolutely enjoyed the spoof on the old Spanish novellas and look forward to every episode of Jane the Virgin. The show was witty and well written and I’ll be sad to see it go. this is a show that both the Spanish-speaking and English-speaking families can gather round together and watch.
Keep it, love this show
please dont end this series.
