It looks like low ratings have permanently grounded the LA to Vegas TV show in cancellation land. Despite the fact that space had reportedly been reserved for season two production, FOX has cancelled their Tuesday night comedy series.
A FOX workplace comedy, LA to Vegas stars Dylan McDermott, Kim Matula, Ed Weeks, Nathan Lee Graham, Olivia Macklin, Peter Stormare, and Amir Talai. The TV series centers on a weekly Jackpot Airlines roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The crew and frequent fliers make the regular weekend trek to Sin City, with dreams of returning a big winner.
LA to Vegas: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of LA to Vegas averaged a disappointing 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 2.32 million viewers. It typically hovered around 15th place among the 20 scripted FOX TV shows we’re tracking for the 2017-18 season.
What Happened?
Word was that FOX had been hoping that executive producer Will Ferrell would make a guest shot in the second season opener to help attract some interest. Apparently, Ferrell agreed to appear but couldn’t commit to the season opener. That may or may not have played into the cancellation decision. It surely didn’t help that, because FOX has Thursday Night Football next season, the network has fewer timeslots than usual open.
The defacto series finale of LA to Vegas aired on May 1st. Check out our list of more than 100 other shows that that won’t be returning next season.
What do you think? How did you like the first season of the LA to Vegas TV series? Did you think it would be renewed for season two?
One of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a looong time
My husband and I loved the show. Please bring back Captain Dave and all the crew.
So disappointed this did not renew. Great cast and writers. Hopefully another network will pick up this fine, fresh breath of brevity, and let the stories continue.
They should air another season of La to Vegas I’ll go on and attract viewers I’m a very hilarious human being with a passion for acting been doing it for years. What a shame Will Ferrell you could’ve done something. This show used to be what I looked forward to every week sad to see it go
I was hoping this show will stay; it was funny and with all the ******** around on tv between reality tv; politics and other non worthy shows I really was looking forward to them coming back! They had a strong cast and the comedy was like no other. Dam producers. I will not be watching NFL though. Reruns for me!
I loved la to vegas. why do the networks always seem to cancel the good shows!!!!
LOVED La to Vegas. Smart and funny. Why do the netwowrks always ancel the good shows!!!!
I loved LA to Vegas. Great cast, great characters and very funny. I don’t think it was promoted well enough. The ads I saw didn’t showcase the humor well. I Initially watched it because I liked Kim Matula, who was a major character on The Bold and The Beautiful for about 5 years and I was curious how she’d do in a comedy role. I thought she was brilliant starting from the opening scene where she’s juggling a cup of coffee, a cell phone and changing into her work clothes while frantically running from a cab, through the airport. I really like the show. It was a lot of fun and A lot of laughs. I thought the concept was pretty original and all the characters were unique and so likable. I’m sad to see that they canceled the show. Shows just dont last like they use too. I reply hope its picked up by another station.
I HATE the fact that they canceled LA to Vegas and the Shannara Chronicles. I loved both of those shows! I really hope another network will pick up the Shannara Chronicles.
One of the funniest shows; move it to FXX and back to back episodes with Archer.
We and our 20 something kids found it funny and entertaining. After a long day it’s nice to enjoy something simple. Cancel your market researchers. Please bring it back!
Booooooo ….. big Boooo FOX.
A great Comedy nobody was killing anybody it was funny enjoyable and of course you cancel something that’s good
I hope they can “land ” on another network . Like TBS or FX . The show really deserves a longer run. (way) All bad puns aside – it was a good show that was cancelled too fast .
Totally agree cancelled far too early. It crossed our teenager and parent demographic we all loved the show. The shows title and timing with recent events in Vegas may have reduced viewer numbers needed to give it a second chance.
