While NBC has cancelled the original Law & Order, the network isn’t about to let Law & Order: Special Victims Unit go. It’s one of their highest-rated shows in the target demographic.
Law & Order: SVU revolves around the detectives and prosecutors associated with the New York City Police Department’s 16th precinct. Castmembers have included B.D. Wong, Christopher Meloni, Dann Florek, Ice-T, Mariska Hargitay, Richard Belzer, Stephanie March, Tamara Tunie, Adam Beach, Diane Neal, Michaela McManus, and Michelle Hurd.
The series began back in September 1999 on NBC. It registered as the 40th most-watched show of the season and was still renewed. In year two, it moved up to #25 and then peaked in season three, at #14.
The cop drama’s essentially been in decline ever since but, considering the poor shape of the rest of NBC’s schedule, it’s still a top performer for the peacock network.
To no surprise, NBC has renewed SVU for next season. No word on when season 12 will debut but the network is supposed to release its schedule on Sunday.

I absolutely LOVE Law and Order SVU! And am glad they are all coming back for season 12! THIS SHOW ROCKS!!!!!!!! It’s one of, if not THE best show on today and it’s my favorite. I don’t watch any other show as much as I watch SVU!

there all good actors but they could replace richard belzer he doesn’t get enough screen time. and svu its not going because some1 could die the nxt day and then wat. i think if elliot leaves the way should is when a rapist rapes and murders elliot’s wife and that gives elliot’s son dicky a path to becoming either a cop or vigilante and stabler goes berserk and simliar to 2 face goes on a killing spree only to find the rapist in the end. elliot’s son kills the rapist and elliot takes the blame and goes to jail fighting… Read more »

Oh my gosh, Elliot is leaving? Hope he will stay I like him and Olivia. I agree that Alex is perfect I just hope that she will stay since for me she is the best DA. She looks so smart and intelligent which makes me so happy when I see her. Will she be part of season 12?

I hope he doesn’t. It will never be the same without him. All characters fit in so well that no one can ever replace them. I hate when they keep switching DA’s. Alex is perfect for the job but she keeps coming and going, which makes me sad. Please, don’t ever cancel this show. I’m addicted and can not get enough and would love to see all the characters for seasons on.

I love this series. I hope Alex Cabot will be part of this season and hoping that something will be developed between her and Olivia. 🙂

i am glad they are renewing it and i can only hope they bring back cabot and move it from opposite criminal minds those would make it a perfect world for me
I am addicted to law and order svu. I am so excited there not cancelling it and I cant wait till the next season
YAY, another season of SVU! I’m so ecstatic, I looove this show, it’s easily the greatest show ever and definitely the only NBC show I watch. So happy there’s going to be another season! I can’t get enough of SVU! 😀
