It looks like the Law & Order franchise is staying alive — for at least one more year. NBC has renewed Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for a 17th season on the network.
Debuting in 1999, Law & Order: SVU follows an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes in New York City. In the current 16th season, the cast includes Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Danny Pino, and Raul Esparza.
While the show is one of the peacock network’s longest-running scripted series, it’s still doing pretty well in the ratings. It’s NBC’s third-highest rated drama in the coveted 18-49 demographic with a 1.7 rating and 7.22 million viewers. Compared to last season, SVU is down by 7% in the demo but is up by 14% in viewers.
As of last night, 356 episodes of SVU have aired on NBC — and there are many more to come.

It should be renew as long as they can. I love this show. Is one my favorites. They should also try to bring Stabler back. He was a great asset to the show.

While I love L&O SVU please please bring back the original Law and Order. I want to see story lines that aren’t all about ‘ special victims’. A few good ‘whodunit’ murder mysteries would be great. Yes i know it would be different characters but the L&O writers are always great at that aspect s well as story lines. Thanks
I think that Law & Order SVU is the Best show on television and I really wish there could be more episodes per season. It airs on Wednesday nights at 9pm followed by Chicago PD and these are the only shows I look forward to watching!

Law and Order: SVU should go on for many more season. At least go to 20. It’s such an amazing show. Mariana Hargitay is one of the best actresses I know. If season 17 is the last one ever. I’ll be depressed about it. That would be sad.
I think it has a lot more 2 offer yet i love this progamme and what it 2 last for ever i never get boared of watching it x

Should totally run forever! Law and order svu is my favorite of all law and orders. I have seen all the episodes a million times and it never gets old. Law and order svu is just my favorite show compared to all shows I have ever seen! Please don’t end it !
