Based on the “Walt Longmire” mystery novels by Craig Johnson, Longmire has been a very successful TV series for A&E in the ratings. Will that trend continue? Will the show be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned!
Longmire follows the life of a Wyoming county sheriff who’s returned to work following his wife’s demise. With the support of his family and co-workers, he solves cases and works to stay in office. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/28 update: Longmire has been cancelled by A&E after three seasons. However…
11/19 update: Netflix has picked up the series for a fourth season.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.52 million total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like the Longmire TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fourth season?
Longmire is a great show. The storylines are real like, and the cast of characters viewsers can relate to. Normal everyday people trying to keep the law.
Most of the shows on tv are for young audiences. Since I am an older person the characters on Longmire I can relate to. Everyday people who work hard and have problems in their lives.
I’ve looked forward since the show began to when the show will be back on. Last year fans weren’t sure whether the show would return and it was very upsetting. Looking forward to season 4!
Renew! We have faithfully watched every episode since the first episode of season 1 and have read all of Craig Johnsons books. It is a great series and how nice for once to be able to watch something that is not “message” oriented. It is good entertainment. I hope it doesn’t fall victim to the lack of 18-49 year old viewers, as has happened to so many good shows.
Longmire is one of my favorite shows. My husband and I look forward to each episode. I hope the network renews it for a 4th season. I can’t begin to understand why they would even consider canceling such a quality program.
Renew, Longmire is one of the better shows on TV, it’s always been great to watch and keeps you wondering. Give them the next season and don’t even think about canceling it.
Renew!!! This is a great show. Can’t wait to see next year’s shows.
Craig Johnson’s books are fabulous reads and the TV show is one of the best things to happen to TV in a l-o-o-ong time! I agree the storyline in the middle of the 3rd season went a bit awry, but the overall anticipation of each show reminds me of the aura created on the Sunday night mystery series aired in the early 1970’s on NBC which included rotating episodes of “McMillan and Wife,” “McCloud,” and ” Columbo.” Our family couldn’t wait until Sunday night, and we find ourselves feeling the same on Monday night now! FINALLY a show appealing to… Read more »
Renew renew renew. Get the point my family loves the show. My 22 year old daughter loves it. Shows to go you you don’t have to be older man to enjoy the show or the books. .
I had never heard of Longmire until I signed up for Netflix and was looking for good westerns to watch. I did a search and one of the results was Longmire so I watched the pilot episode and ended up binge watching the first two seasons over the next two days. The problem was in real time the first half of season three had already aired and I couldn’t find the first five episodes anywhere. That was a little disappointing but other than that I truly enjoy the show. I have to say it must be a really violent county… Read more »
Longmire should definitely come back with a fourth season! It is the best show on tv! I have gotten many people I know hooked on it. If you are worried about the ratings dropping then move it to the nine o’clock time slot and more people would watch probably. People who have to get up early to go to work don’t always stay up to watch shows– they just dvr them and watch it when they can. I wish there was more decent shows on tv like Longmire. I will always continue to watch it plus I buy the dvd… Read more »
Longmire is one of the best shows on TV. We have watched from the first episode and truly love it! It is one of those shows that you can’t figure out “who done it” in the first 10 minutes. It truly makes you think and analyze what’s going on. The top notch cast and the way they interact make them feel like family. It is a joy to watch and keeps you looking forward to next week. We truly wish there were more episodes during a season. It seems like it just came on and it was the season finale… Read more »
This a good show, far better than most, B+ I’d say. And well worth a season 4. Beyond that is hard to see – the complete story line should be wrapped in 10-12 more episodes. The cast and production are strong, the stories fairly interesting and relatively believable. I’ll drop a minor complaint about the writing though. Scripts are inconsistent, sensationalize the Native Americans rather than investigate and enlighten, and always leave me wondering what if any of it has any truth. I don’t claim to know it’s incorrect, just don’t personally accept a lot of it. It’s usually gimmicky,… Read more »
Interesting that you saw the season as focused on Walt/Henry. Walt will always be the focus since it is “Longmire” but to me the season was very Branch/Ridges focused followed by Vic’s marriage/backstory then followed by getting Henry out of trouble. I don’t think Henry got enough screen time at all, it was all Branch. I’m getting tired of the Branch character in one way or another causing conflict within the Sheriff’s department. I’d rather see them all work together to solve crimes. I don’t think they will write out the Branch character. If there is a season 4 Branch… Read more »
our family really enjoys Longmire. please keep it coming.
we finally get a good program that isn’t about monsters and witches. It has a good story, beautiful scenery, that is enjoyable to watch and now they want to cancel it to make room for more stupid shows. It isn’t fair. There is so little good TV to watch these days. Please don’t cancel Longmire.
WE love Longmire so much we went to Longmire days in Buffalo, Wy. Meeting the actors was like going to a family reunion, they are our new family. Please keep our family on the air.
