Based on the “Walt Longmire” mystery novels by Craig Johnson, Longmire has been a very successful TV series for A&E in the ratings. Will that trend continue? Will the show be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned!
Longmire follows the life of a Wyoming county sheriff who’s returned to work following his wife’s demise. With the support of his family and co-workers, he solves cases and works to stay in office. The cast includes Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/28 update: Longmire has been cancelled by A&E after three seasons. However…
11/19 update: Netflix has picked up the series for a fourth season.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.52 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Longmire attracted a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.7 million total viewers.
Note: These are the final national numbers and are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Longmire TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fourth season?
My wife and I love this show. Please bring it back!
I want longmire to continue, it is truly one of the most enjoyable programs there is to watch.
Best show on tv
My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed each season on Longmire. The setting is unique on today’s t.v. The characters have depth and the weekly plots are interesting with humor and dramatic impact. Each season has had a major story arc keeping us thoroughly on edge till its conclusion. We would be very disappointed if Longmire was not renewed.
My wife and I have enjoyed Longmire from the very first episode and looked forward to the next episode for each of the seasons.
It brings memories of “Gun Smoke” and the “Other” westerns of the 1950’s and the early 1960s which were great.
Keep it. It has great story lines and great actors.
I thoroughly enjoy this show, it it well done, mature drama for baby boomers! keep it!
Plus Longmire is easy on the eyes.
i want more longmire shows i love it com on A&E
Best show in a while. Well written and leaves you hanging till the next week. Hopes for more seasons. Thanks to All…
Longmire is, by far, one of the best written, best acted and best on location filmed shows on the air. To me, it is nod to another well-loved western, Gunsmoke. What a great treat it is to have been introduced to the characters of Absaroka County! I was hooked from the first show and have read ALL of the Craig Johnson Walt Longmire books! I was intrigued about Longmire from the heavy advertising A&E did to promote it at the beginning. However, I feel the promotion has waned on the part of A&E, both prior to and during the summer… Read more »
One of the best shows on tv. A clean one to boot. The tv bosses should have a little more time on the couch with a head Dr. if they cancel the show.
Great show…A&E better renew or I’m done with that channel.
One of the best shows on TV. Bring it back for season 4.
This show is well written, especially this year, and keeps an audience waiting for more, much more! Cancellation should be totally out of the question; whereas, a greater investment for future shows should be the focus.
bring it back. i am from wyoming a love to here familiar names even if they are not in the right sposts
I was surprised to learn IT IS NOT filmed in Wyoming! It’s down outside Prescott, AZ.
The credits suggest it is filmed in New Mexico.
Actually it’s filmed in New Mexico in and around Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Pecos, Valles Caldera National Preserve, etc.
Different network. Different show but Rubicon on AMC was excellent and cancelled.
Longmire is a great show without sex swearing or overt violence. With the third season finale, cancellation is not possible , plausible or ethical. Long more should be promoted more heavily. A and E is not the proper forum for this great show but is excellent in compArison to permanent obscurity and demise.
I agree I really liked Rubicon too and they really did not give it a chance to do well, did they? As far as A&E goes, you are right it wold not be very plausible or ethical to cancel and leave the show with this season’s finale as the end. That being said, they did it with the Glades and it was in it’s 3rd or 4th season, with decent ratings and a huge cliffhanger they cancelled it anyway! I hope they had enough angry people over that and they decided not to do it again but, they are less… Read more »
OOPS! Show not shoe and more worried about their reality shows. Silly small screen:)
Back in the day, Ed Sullivan would say, we have a Reaaaaaaallyy Big Shoe tonight. So, no worries. Typo is my middle name. 😉
Hopefully, if A&E is shortsighted enough to not renew it, another network..TNT or a major one will pick it up. Remember Jag? It ran for quite a while after NBC dropped it.
