A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
We love this show, great acting and characters and always has a good strong message. Hope this show stays on the air, if folks don’t like it, don’t watch it.
Keep Lucifer ALIVE
Please keep this show on!!!! Who cares what the freak million moms think. If they don’t like the show, then don’t watch it, but don’t ruin it for the rest of us!
Love the show, Keep it
The show is great, the acting superb, the antics and lines original and terrific! If there are people who object to it, there are lots of other channels available to them. My husband and I would both hate to see it cancelled, especially by angry moms. I understand it is possible to block things that you deem unsuitable for your children as you see fit. So please leave the rest of us to enjoy this show if WE choose to, and monitor your own family’s accordingly.
I love this show!! One of my favorite on TV. We are post college educated and find the treatment entertaining and novel. The characters are interesting and the story line never dull. Please do not cancel!!!
If I ran it i would keep it the show isn’t telling people to go be satanic it’s a great show
i would keep the show. there is so much trash on tv and now a show that a person can sit back and enjoy you plan to take it off the air.
Love love love this show along with my household…plz renew.
Please KEEP. It’s the only show that I look forward to watching every week. It’s witty, it’s devilishly crazy and, Tom Ellis, come on!!!!!
Love the show, all of my female friends love the character !! Lucifer needs to show his true inner self on punishing the people more often. Definitely a second season.
Season 2 please. It’s a refreshing take on a subject people were quick to judge before even seeing. I find it raises some very interesting points as well. It’s up against DWTS and more importantly a biggie like Scorpion. It’s done well with that as competition. Fox, don’t make the same mistake you did with Firefly. Keep Lucifer, move it to maybe a better time zone. I’m so sick of zombies..
It’s a good show . Give it a chance as it’s on opposite DWTS. Maybe move it to a better time slot
I like the show. It is new and novel. o tired of zombies. ring on the devil!
I think the show is hilariously composed and shouldnt be cancelled because of the million moms club or religious viewers disliking its content. If you don’t like it then dont watch it. Television is meant for entertainment, nothing else. Its not meant to hurt anyones feelings. And the acting doesn’t seem mediocre nor does the plot and in addition the humor is twisted and just plain funny. On top of that there are so many plot twists and turns and it keeps the watcher interested. And the writers arent trying to paint lucifer as some cool guy. Its just for… Read more »
