If Elizabeth McCord wants to become “Madam President”, she better hurry. CBS has announced that the Madam Secretary TV show will end with its upcoming sixth season. There will be just 10 episodes in the final season and they will begin airing in Fall 2019.
A political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl announced that there won’t be a seventh season at CBS’ upfronts press breakfast earlier today. Kahl said, “They’re going to do 10 episodes in the fall and tie up the storyline. We’re happy and excited to do that for Téa, the cast, and the audience. It’s hard when a show ‘just poofs and goes away.’ We like to be able to do this and send the show off with a great deal of respect and celebration. Everyone appreciates when we are able to do that.”
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think season six is a good time to end this CBS TV show? Would you have watched a seventh season?
I cannot believe you are ending this fabulous show the Fall of 2019. WHY?? All the actors are great as is this show.PLEASE PLEASE RECONSIDER renewing for many more seasons. It is current and up to date with a lot of the world situations. that shows many people that things are happening all over. Keep it going for many more seasons. Thank you.
I would have loved to see this show go on for at least 8 seasons.
I really hate to see it go.
Yes, I will miss Madam Secretary, I never miss it each week it is on, no matter the delay due to a sports game. If it must end, thank you for the time we had together. Love Tim Daly, he is the best and most uncredited actor ever, A spinoff would be a wonderful idea, with maybe a different airtime. Looking forward to the fall. Maybe someone on broadway will realize what a gem he is and give him a shot at a dream come true role, he is the most uncredited actor ever. Watch out CBS, another network may… Read more »

Yes I would watch season 7. Live the show
I would love a 7th season. This is one of the few shows that holds my interest. I’m sad to see it go.
Yes, I would LOVE a season 7. This is one of the best shows on TV…challenges your brain, well written and a super cast.
I think it is a great show was looking forward to it every week and I am very disappointed that there will be no Season 7. I hope they will change their mind would be nice to listen sometimes so the people who watch those shows
This show is a favorite and I would watch a seventh season. I hope a spin-off will be considered that deals with important pertinent issues and intelligent ways to deal with them. Madam President would get great reviews.
I am so sorry loved this show but it cannot be called Madam Secretary because she is running for president. Will miss this show very much.
Perhaps there can be a spin-off like, The Good Wife into another attorney series using some of the former actors and Young Sheldon. I think the Tea and Tom work well together.
I just don’t understand why all the great shows are canceled – the bad shows that morons watch stay on & we lose the good ones. Please renew Madam Secretary – many of us enjoy it!!!
I want season 7. I have watched th 4 seasons 9 times on Netflix and reruns on network love all on show
Love the show. Would have loved a season 7 but glad at least that they are doing 6. Hope they reconsider
